Nice post! It helped me find my way in RadTool, but...

Can someone help me out here?
I'm still having trouble playing the converted videos with sound.
Without sound they play perfect on the CQ flatscreen.
With sound, and I used your 3rd step in the convertion, the video plays at double speed,
leading into a pixelised screen and crappy sound.

Anyone?

EDIT:
Really strange...
I accidently clicked the flatscreen while HTFU was playing and it switched to normal speed...
But when the video returns again, ti's again at double speed.

Have you tried to play some other premade videos (for example those 2 I converted to this thread as examples)?
Did they play fine?

Just asking to figure out is this conversion related, source format related or could there be some hardware/driver issues.
I've noticed that radtools is unable to read certain .avi files correctly, but as long the converted .bik has been playing normally outside the game, it has been playing fine inside it also.

Perhaps setting present intrerval from eves settings to "1" would help some... lowering gfx quality settings a little to bump fps is worth testing also - doesn't cost anything :)

so... try some other premade .bik video, try to play your own .bik outside the game, tweak and test eve settings, possibly try to use some other source video to that conversion.... let us know about the details and we shall try our best to help you forward if solution didn't appear with this info.

Sorry for the late reply, GS.

I downloaded you first example (nice vid btw. I want some more of that!) and it plays just nice, as long as I don't start to walk around or turn away from the screen. So I'm guessing it's something to do with my gfx card.
I'll try some of your tips you mentioned above and get back to you when I have more news. ;)

Thanks for the help!

Here is 3rd example video for your CQ flatscreen :)

Name: Crucible Trailer (click for youtube preview)
Description: Eve Online Crucible expansion trailer.
Composer: CCP Games
Source of original mp4 file: www.gamefront.com

Interesting facts:
You're going to have spaceships in your Incarna while you play spaceships.

The bik file audio is enviromentally modified for CQ use and volume is normalized to 25percent. File is provided "as is" and to be used in CQ only.
Link to .bik file (download this for your CQ)

When you have downloaded the .bik file, copy it to "CQScreenVideos" subfolder in your cache folder.
After that you are ready to enter your CQ and enjoy the show... :)[/quote]

Thanks for writing this, Grey Stormshadow, I wasn't aware that there's now an official way to view custom videos in CQ Smile

But I have trouble playing movies with sound... the image is then very ugly pixelated, especially around movements. If I remove the soundtrack, it looks fine although it's played slower than it should. It happens with your premade movies as well as my own.
It's the same on a system with an NVIDIA card and on one with a ATI.

Does anyone have that problem too?

Thanks,
Zerania

Enable fps monitor with ctrl+f and see if it gives you at least 25 frames per second. If not, try tuning the graphics settings down and see if that helps.

Heya,

I have done everything you said there. Video plays fine but...

I am using Adobe Suit. I used Premier Pro so I can get a YT video from MP4 to .AVI so I can at least convert it.

Alright so I got a video but no sound?

I figured it might fix the sound I did with Adobe Soundbooth, this means I converted the AAC from video to a .WAV format, which plays fine in Winamp/iTunes/Media Player Calssic/WMP, however when I did the mix sound thing with Rad Video Tools I still did not hear the sound.

So I copied it to the cache folder and see what happens.

The video plays normally but that sound turned into some shrieking horror thing.

I had headphones on and now I worry I will have hearing disorder from that. It is also much louder than the music from Jukebox! (even though I lowered the audio to 25% and then did Normalize in Soundbooth).

Any clue? I tried to download the Crucible trailer BINK you uploaded but it just tells me it is unavailable :P

Hmm I think I may need to reupload those to evefiles or something... anyways it sounds that your sound file what you're trying to mix is compressed somehow or just in incompatible format/bitrate with rad tools... it seems to be rather picky ;) As long the .wav is windows PCM it should work.

You can test the converted vids with bink player in windows... if they play fine with that, they should also play in game.
