Hi all,
I just getting my hand on exploration in Serpentis and Guristas space and try to find a Hawk fit to run combat sites like hideouts efficiently. My main skills as Caldari pilot (with some Gallente cross training) are shields, missiles, and some drone operation.

I played around in EFT and the best fit I get together so far with my skills is:

[Hawk, Hawk: Serpentis/Guristad Plexing]
Capacitor Power Relay II
Ballistic Control System II

1MN Afterburner II
Magnetic Scattering Amplifier II
Small Shield Booster II
Kinetic Deflection Amplifier II

'Arbalest' Standard Missile Launcher, Caldari Navy Bloodclaw Light Missile
'Arbalest' Standard Missile Launcher, Caldari Navy Bloodclaw Light Missile
'Arbalest' Standard Missile Launcher, Caldari Navy Bloodclaw Light Missile
'Arbalest' Standard Missile Launcher, Caldari Navy Bloodclaw Light Missile
75mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Antimatter Charge S

Small Core Defence Field Extender I
Small Core Defence Field Extender I

Effective shield HP 5.727, shield capacity 1484
em 43%, thermal 80%, kinetic 83%, explosive 50%
Defence 57/67
DPS 95
Cap lasts 1min37sec

I am wondering if the tank can be improved. Have seen Hawk fits with boosters & extenders. Would get similar EFT results but are boosters and extenders mixing active and passive tanking strategies?

Are the resists ok for Serpentis and Guristas? Or should I fit specific resistances for different pirate factions?

Thx,

Sugilite

serp/gurista are kin/therm, so hawk has pretty good resists right off the bat. Look into a gistii small shield booster, as they use little cap.

use rockets

If you want to fit a gun in the 5th sloth instead of something like a probe launcher than put a projectile weapon, doesn't use cap.

Thanks a lot, Sugilite.
I was wondering about the rockets myself but was a bit concerned that in busy engagements you need to get close to the rats to kill them. Not sure if the tank can hold this. Probabely, something I need to test.

Consider a Worm instead, since you already have gallante crosstrained. Drones will work better than light missiles. The extra low/mid/rig slot helps.

If you are only going to be using the Hawk for guristas & serpentis rats, then there is no need to have an EM shield amplifier fitted.

Also, you may want to consider changing at least one rig towards improving your dps. The biggest problem I always ran into with my Hawk was a lack of dps, never was it the tank which left me unsatisfied.

This is my preferred Hawk PvE fit:

[Hawk, Hawk]
Ballistic Control System II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

1MN Afterburner II
Gistii B-Type Small Shield Booster
Kinetic Deflection Amplifier II
Domination Heat Dissipation Amplifier

Standard Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Bloodclaw Light Missile
Standard Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Bloodclaw Light Missile
Standard Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Bloodclaw Light Missile
Standard Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Bloodclaw Light Missile
Auto Targeting System I

Small Bay Loading Accelerator I
Small Warhead Calefaction Catalyst I

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Hey folks,
thanks a lot for the great feedback.
I will look into DPS issues.

Worm sounds interesting .. but as starters I do not want to make it too expensive because I want to get into lowsec exploration. I am not experienced with the latter one and expect to pay the noob ship toll Blink

A Hawk would be rubbish for low sec exploration IMO.

It might do Radars and Mags(badly), assuming you have another scanning ship but anything else would be painfully slow. But anything else(Anoms, combat sites, DEDs etc will require 'an expensive fit' and you'd do far more for far less in a battlecruiser, especially if you're learning on the job.

Thx .. of course a battle cruiser is doing a better job. i intended the Hawk only for DED's and combat sites with ship restrictions like hideouts etc.
