Rotating or alternating downtime

DT is dependent on office hours in the place where the servers are located .. go figure. Duration has gone down a lot the last few years and the incessant patching they began some time ago keep the more severe extended DT's away .. or seem to.

Personally more in favour of a 15-30m DT per day than a 5-6hr once a week .. if once a week is even possible as its mainly used to tidy up the database, or so my SPAIZ! tell me (read: random guess).

Guess what? I do eat my dinner during downtime. Guess what? I have a life instead of having mom make my dinner and do housework, like you lot of children. I have to spend a chunk of each evening doing adult stuff. It's really that simple. And having downtime right in the middle of the only time I can spare for gaming means that I don't get to game. YOU lot quit your bitching.

No...there is a big difference between "Everybody being selfish jackasses" and "You being a dumbass".

YOU'RE the dumbass. Your life is different to mine and somehow it's MY fault I'm inconvenienced by downtime?

How difficult would it be for CCP to alternate downtime between 7pm and 5pm every other day?

Why should CCP change their scheduled downtime to convenience you because you can't eat dinner at a different time? A set downtime is better anyway because we all know when it is. I would rather not have to keep a schedule of downtimes just to satisfy your stomach. Oh wait...lol...it just occured to me that not everybody that plays EvE is over 18 and moved out from under mommy and daddy's roof. That explaines this whole thread.

Indeed. Was just adding to Danika's post about the "reasonable" expectation that DT started at 0900 when the devs show up. Then again, I could have misinterpreted what Danika meant...

yeah, I was saying that with DT where it is, devs get time to actually set it all up in the morning, rather than pushing a button and hoping. The OP is just trolling I guess.

very, one would assume, as thier devs won't be starting at 8-9AM like normal people if that's when DT starts. Who wants to start work at 6-7 AM anyway?

Oh jeez, this place is full of rocket scientists. OK, if it is the case that downtime happens first thing in the morning for CCP, then rather than have them get in 2 hours earlier (seriously?) why not have them alternate it between 9am and 11am? D'uh.

That's part of it, but it's also scheduled deliberately for a time when the fewest possible players will be online. At 11:00 EvE time, the players in the eastern hemisphere are just getting up, and the players in the western hemisphere are either going to bed or have been asleep for several hours (for purposes of illustration, 11:00 GMT/UST is approximately 3:00 AM PST).

Not trolling, just annoyed at not being able to play during the week because of the timing of downtime, and annoyed that people who aren't affected by this issue seem to think they deserve an opinion on it.

If you don't want our opinions, why did you post in an open, public forum?

Everyone would be affected by it if it was changed the way you suggested, because it would move into everyone else's playtime.

As Astrid Stjerna said, the current DT is positioned in what happens to be the best time for most of the playerbase (middle of the day for Europe, and before most people in the Americas wake up). This, in addition to the fact that the current DT is perfectly placed for the IT people who have to actually oversee the process, since 1100 GMT is right in the mid to early part of their work day.

DT is when it is for a few very good reasons. CCP isn't trying to alienate you, but the DT being well-timed for both a very large portion of their playerbase and their IT specialists is far more important to them than your complaints. Not trying to brush you off, but it just is.

Wow...you are an arrogant one aren't you? It is HALF AN HOUR per day! You want to change the downtimes to satisfy you and negatively effect everybody else. That is the definition of selfish.

No, the definition of selfish is expecting never to be inconvenienced and not caring about anyone else who is. Guess what? That makes YOU the selfish one.

Plus, you all just don't get it. Downtime isn't just a half hour away from the game. What happens during downtime? That's right, respawning! Maybe you never mission but that doesn't mean missioning doesn't exist. Numbnuts.
