Didn't work for me. Still crashes trying to enter the CQ. (I used Driver Cleaner .net if that makes any difference.)

Terazul,

Try with Driver Cleaner Pro. See if that helps.
Might be that the other one does not work due to reg keys not being removed.

Tried Kai recommendation did not work. I reverted back to the last offical NVIDIA driver to see if its driver related and my CQ will not load and my client keeps crashing.

I will say I dont use the CQ much so I am unsure when this issue popped up but ya... im borked.

I tried both driver cleaners. Still doesn't work.

I'm pretty sure I scoured my system of all Nvidia-related materials. Not sure why it would work for you and not me...

What I did is that I simply unistalled the driver by "Your unistaller 2011 Pro" along with the nVidia update and PhysX (it cleans the registry as well). Then reinstalled the 285.79 driver I was using earlier, choosing a "Clean Install" and then restarted my PC.

The thing is,when you only downgrade your drivers, you have no option for PhysX so that will leave the current (295.51) version in. However when I unistalled it one by one manually and reverted back to older drivers, it has solved my issues.

I wonder if the PhysX driver has been kinda screwed up by the latest beta from nVidia.

Aha! That was it!

I've narrowed it down to the PhysX driver. Uninstalling it and rolling back to an earlier version fixed the crash.

So for anyone who still has this problem, there's your answer.

Sorry for the late reply.

The PhysX Beta Driver is indeed the issue, we have made NVIDIA aware of it and the problem is already fixed internally and on test servers. Unfortunately I cant give you a proper release date yet but the next patch will include the fix.

If you are experiencing this issue it is advised to deactivate Station Environments until the next patch.

Or just simply following what I did and enjoy a CQ until then :).

Thanks for the heads up though! Good to see it is confirmed.

we have found the issue (with the help from Nvidia) and it is because of the beta driver from Nvidia. we have a fix for the issue that is ready and waiting in the staging branch and i'm hoping to get deployed next week. i can't confirm 100% that it will be released next week, but i'm 99.9% sure we will get it out 1 way or another.

of course the work around is to remove the beta driver and install the officially released driver from Nvidia, but where's the fun in that right ? :)

hopefully i will get you more info on Monday.

( in a moment of laziness i'm going to copy this response into the other thread about the issue).

<3 CCP Devs :P

Aaaanyways, the 290 Beta driver runs fine, so we might as well stick to it while you guys deploy the fix :P Aaand of course there is no fun when using WHQL drivers.

Current Sisi build (341054) still is crashing on me when I try to load CQ with the latest beta drivers, so I take it there are still Sisi builds to come before Thursday?

Anyone else still getting the crashes on Sisi?

looked into this a little more and we can't reproduce it in house with the fix. it also seems that we are receiving the crash dumps from TQ (to be expected) but haven't received any from SISI since we deployed the fix.

I'm using 295.xx on Linux. So the problem could be specifically with the Linux driver now and not the Windows one, or possibly in Wine itself.

i'm using the 290 beta drivers from Nvidia, which are the drivers i've used to verify the fix.

i'll install the 295 drivers tomorrow and try it out, but please note that i only have windows and mac computers available.

I'm at the computer in question now so I can specifically see the exact driver version reported by the NVidia Xserver settings app: 295.20, but the Linux driver numbers differ slightly, as the latest Windows beta is 295.51. Interestingly enough, 295.20 is listed as a "Certified" driver for Linux. This computer runs Xubuntu 11.10 64-bit.

I tried the current version on Sisi (including the client update to version 341677 as displayed on the login screen) and was able to enter CQ successfully once - the time immediately after I had installed the client update (and manually deleted the cache directory, a habit I've gotten into after any kind of EVE update).

Since that client-update install and single successful CQ load, I have been unable to get into CQ without crashing. Even manually deleting the cache directory immediately before starting the Sisi client hasn't let me back in.

Tested last night, completely removed NVidia proprietary drivers (ie, back to "nouveau" drivers) and installed the 280.13 ones. This didn't fix the crash on entering CQ.

Completely removed those drivers and went back to nouveau drivers, then re-installed 295.20 drivers. Still crashes entering CQ.

If the recent patches have fixed Windows then it's got to be a Linux driver-specific issue or a Wine problem.

Just uninstalling/reinstallig the graphic card drivers won't work, because the issue are the PhysX drivers (these are standalone). Go to your "Control Panel", open "Add/remove programs" and uninstall "NVIDIA PhysX". Then download the previous PhysX release and install that. Saves you all the way through driver cleaner, reinstalling, etc.

Broken version: 9.11.1107
Working version: 9.11.1111

You can check the version under "Add/remove programs", too.

(This is for windows only obviously, however I'm not sure if the non-Windows drivers aren't affected, too.)

Just wanted to mention this, too: EVE isn't the only game being affected by this. Games based on Unreal Engine 3 seem to crash as well. So even if it's fixed by CCP, I'd go back to the older version for now.

I can't find separate Linux PhysX drivers on the Nvidia site, and maybe that's the issue: the latest (295.20) Linux driver may still be including the broken version of the PhysX driver?
