self destruct killmail

Hi All,

There is one thing I hate the most as a PVP player, it's when I don't get the killmail which is rightfully mine because the douchebag I attacked self destructs.

I would like suggest for CCP to introduce another change in the killmail system. If a ship or pod is attacked while doing self destruct a killmail should be generated. Let me know what your thoughs are about the subject.

Thank you!
Regards,
Thyb

The killmail is only rightfully yours if you manage to kill him in time. It is this obsession over killmails that in my opinion makes it hard to pvp since few players dare to go alone againts someone else because of the killmail. A better way to have players suicide less would be to stop insurance payouts in cases of selfdestruction. Will hurt their wallet more than if you blow them up.

Just my 2 cents on the matter.

Hah! Another person with delusions of self entitlement. To bad they are such a failure and they won't accept that fact nor can they bother to use the search function cause this is like the #918217 "I haz original ideaz!". EVE isn't fair, if something is quote - "rightfully mine!!!!" - end quote then WE ALL HAVE SOMETHING THAT IS RIGHTFULLY OURS!!! (lol like no, I am not interested in a fight at the moment as I travel through your gate camp with 3 billion in tech... but EVE isn't /duel type of game so nothing is rightfully yours or rightfully the other guys)

1. When you undock, you have 119 seconds to turn the ship into ash. Who didn't know that but the OP?

2. Bring more DPS. Yes, it can work!

3. Its in your killbox, you won! If not...then you failed and the guy doing it...is pissing you off and making your ego hurt since you value a score more then him throwing it away.

4. ???

5. PROFIT! Self destruct is working as intended. Ship goes boom, pilot takes a loss which is difficult to replace and isk shifts around on the market, you whine and run to the forums. Killmails, Lossmails, and killboards...zero ******* effect at all on actual game play. Its the ID-10T: USER ERROR that is the problem putting to much value on something they belive is rightfully theirs and EVE being EVE . . .you do everything to either win (derp! bring enough damage) or do everything to make the other guy mad even if you are losing (like ganking hulks, you are losing the ship but the other guy is losing his as well...but local spikes with obscenities more from the hulk pilot)

BTW, I called it months ago: After logoffski fixed, more ships will self destruct since they can't get away! Woot! Keep it up fellas, the whines are keeping the forums warm tonight.

This is the flaw in your post. It's not rightfully yours, because you didn't earn it. Why can't you be happy with the fact, you still got the job done?

But this original never suggested before idea, is pointless as CCP have indicated your failure to kill someone before they SD'd, will more than likely get you a KM in the future.

If they do end up doing this, I think it would be amazing if the self-destructing party was on the KM too. I mean, of the attackers do 50000 damage and the defending ship deals the last 50000 damage to itself (via self destruct) then they should get credit for the damage they did to themselves too (fair is fair afterall). Let the tears pour in about people who are upset that the defending party ended up at the top of their own KM, lol Twisted

If self destruct killmails are sent they should follow the current rules as far as showing who did how much damage, and definitely as far as who gets credit for the kill.

That would be sweevil.

Nope, KM would have to reflect the truth: Since you didn't actually kill it, a loss mail goes to the guy in the ship and to the attacker. KB would then have to reflect it as a loss as if it was a loss for the pilot it self, because since you failed to kill the ship then your precious gamer score should get reduced Twisted as well as the guy who lost the ship in the first place.

Rofl, sounds like a pretty amusing compromise.

Also, isn't this the fourth thread on this this week? WTB sticky guide to using search function.

I say the person who self destructed be the only person who gets the kill mail.

Yes! Let the self destructor get a killmail for his own suicide, while denying griefer bunnies their kills and hobos their free loot.

Its genius!

The griefer tears is soooo yummy!

Eve is about Capital ships, WiS, Boobs, PI and Isk!

Gotta love the anti-pvp types that still play Eve, at least you're persistent. If I wasn't willing to accept that PvP is a part of Eve I think I'd have rage quit years ago.

yes! bigger gangs, that's what eve needs, thank you!

/sarcasm

I like the idea of the self-destructer on the killmail though. Just generate a lossmail and a killmail* where the self-destructer did all the damage and whoever was shooting him is on there with 0 damage.
I don't care about top damage, i just want acknowledgement that some guy is out of a cap ship thanks to me. He already gets his enjoyment out of denying me any loot.

*killmail would be needed because otherwise the selfdestructing player would just not upload his lossmail.

btw, didnt ccp already say fairly recently they were looking into the possibility of 'selfdestruct-mails' ?

Most players, especially people who care about their KB e-peen, are typically already either on their API or their corp/alliance's API for KBs. I was under the impression that most people in general simply use the API pulls for their KMs, meaning that this isn't an issue.

Yes, but some people would disable their API on BC 5 minutes after having self destructed a ship, or delete it from their corp KB because "it doesn't count", or not bother to API verify their super carrier alts etc.

In fact I know some people would do that, because it's exactly what I would do Twisted

I just got a navy raven (battleship) to half armor with my slicer (frigate) - 45min. At 47min he blew himself up. Now no one is going to believe me unless I had a killmail. It was epic, had to be a fail fit, but again no killmail to look at.

U should NOT get a killmail for someone self destructig. I could possibly see all those involved in attacking a pilot who successfully self destructs their ship being linked, with damage amounts, on an "assisted suicide" mail though.

Just because I abuse something, doesn't mean I should be able to abuse it :) I'd also use the short self destruct timers if I ever had a cap I knew I was going to lose, doesn't mean I have to agree with it.
