Well recently i re watched all the hanger videos form eve, and while i was watching the Minmatar it seemed they were given the short end of the stick. In all the other videos they opened with showing the inside of the station, you go to see roads and in the distance other parts of the station. While in the Minmatar they instantly jumped inside the ship hanger. And when looking at all ofter types of EVE promotional videos I've noticed the Minmatar do not show up as much as other races. CCP... Are you ashamed of the Minmatar? It seems that all the other races are you pride and glory and the min's are just the other optional race. I DEMAND RESPECT! we must remember all the races are equal, personally i think Minmatar ships look the best for they seem the most realistic. Nonetheless, i just wanted to throw this out there.... I feel like the Minmatar are not publicized as much... We're people too, just like everyone else.

"Freedom from tyranny and taxes."

Oh wait, wrong topic.

"Freedom from oppression and persecution."

Wait, wrong topic again. How about,

"Freedom from misrepresentation."

Ahh hell,

"Equality and FREEDOM for all."

I like to view the people of the Republic as a very straightforward people. Sightseeing is for clueless Gallente tourists. Show me the hangar, ship, and its armaments, and we can get right down to business!

In the "Careers" section of the new website, 5/12 of the professions shown have a Minmatar character portraying them (freedom fighter, bounty hunter, pirate, salvager, and miner). That's not a minority.

Also, consider the fact that promotional material has to provide appeal and has to be relatable to a majority of people. Just as in movies the lead is often not a minority (hey look an Eve ad on the side), the more minority-ful look of all the Minmatar (and particularly the Brutor) is not very ad-friendly.

Consider this: how many of the Vherokior, Jin-Mei, Khanid, or Achura bloodlines (the "Asian" ones) have you seen in trailers?

I guess you'll just have to live with being the player's FOTM.

Not many, but to be fair, most of the trailers are ships shooting each other.

Edit: The new Pilot Orientation vid has as all sorts of 'minority' bloodlines in it.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Sometimes when I post, I look at my sig and wish that I'd follow my own god damned advice.

The OP was probably talking about things like "I Was There" and "A Future Vision", which is what I was addressing. NPO is good, but hardly a "promotional" video.

I imagine that using a tall beautiful Brutor woman like me as a protagonist in a trailer would probably not alienate audience, but wouldn't appeal to many quite as much as a Europid-type character (where's the view full body option on the forums, btw?? I look good!). We all know that it's basically impossible to make a pudgy character anyway, but you can make a pretty "soft"-looking lady, someone who looks more average than athletic, with some meat on the bones and not much muscle definition. You also wouldn't see such a character in a promo video because... well, does it really need to be explained? There are whole demographic segments that lean pretty heavily toward whitey white-type looking characters, and I noticed a lot of Korean and Japanese players roll Asian-looking characters, but this is just my observation, I can't say with authority. In videos, you gotta showcase the diversity that the game allows while still being relevant to the userbase, I imagine the decision what character to include in a video is viewed from such perspectives.

I feel like I should definitely give CCP credit for including female and non-white characters on the careers section of the site, and it's pretty great that you can make a character like that in the game to begin with, although I find the hairstyles to be pretty white-person-hair centric, by and large Ugh (speaking of hairstyles, where's curly hair? and long hair on dudes that's not dreads?)

But yeah, I'd also like to see more of a variety in characters in CCP videos Big smile And Minmatar ships that aren't Tempests, Rifters and Hurricanes (now also Tornadoes), and more ships that aren't Gallente and Amarr. Oh wait, if potential customers saw something like a Moa up close, too close for comfort, they may not want to subscribe. I notice a distinct lack of Imicus hulls in videos and promotional pictures Blink

I dunno about the OP but I have been seeing a lot of commercials for "Duct Tape" on the TV lately. Seems to me that Minmitar are getting plenty of time in the lime light... Big smile

There actually was an Imicus on the Winter 2011 feature page. Look to the right on the background image.

I tend to agree with the OP. With our role as the most good-looking of all the races, and our (much maligned) elegantly designed ships, it's difficult to brook being overlooked in the aesthetic sense. After all, we endure the hideous Amarr, and the inconsequential Gallente...the cracker Caldari....we deserve our due.

From henceforth all visual representations of EVE Online should be gleaned from the great repository of un-paralleled beauty, which is the Minmatar, with scant mention of those....(shudder) "other" races. I say this with all objectivity.

Paradise is like where you are right now, only much, much better.
