Do you think they can screw up the formatting any more than this,
or should we give them more time to demonstrate this prowess?

They rolled up an updated website with updated styles. Some people still have the old styles cached. Majority seems to be resolved if people clear their caches

Unfortunately it appears this rollout removed the search function or the CSS munts it.

Clearing Cache helped immensely. Everything is fine now.

Noticed that this morning - forcing a refresh fixed it for me - haven't needed to clear the cache yet, and search seemed to work fine for me just now. Using Firefox 10.0 btw.

If I understand the question correctly (i.e. the dropdown menu on the top of EVE Gate being displayed in a broken way), clearing your browser cache should fix this problem. Just confirmed it myself with Firefox 10.

As I said in another thread, if you ever come across weird style/layout behavior on a previously visited site, it is far easier to hit Control and F5 to force a refresh for that site/page. You don't have to clear your entire cache. The browser will simply fetch all the files again instead of using the ones in the cache.
Chrome in particular really likes their cache files, to speed up browsing.

cache files = good.

Except when you want to update stuff.

Either you reduce the cache time before you update, until you remove it 5 minutes before rollout (incremental reductions, so it caches until a specific time), or you change the filenames.

Neither is good or fun.

But removing caching makes a site less responsive, as you have to wait for it to get everything, each and every time you request a page.

CCP web dudes, could you link in your stylesheets with a version number as a GET parameter

...href="/Themes/ccpEveOnline/theme-min.css?v1.2.1" rel="stylesh....

or something that's generated when you recompile/minify it (assuming you're using less or something?) then change the version number in the link - which will mean everyone's browser cache doesn't have to be cleared... No?
