Keeping track of salvage targets

Hello, When I'm salvaging wrecks after killing rats I can use the salvager and the wreck will drop a container with any additional loot. When I loot teh container it disapears from teh overview and I can move on to the next one. However, after scanning a magnometric site I may have several pieces of debris to use the salvager on. Once I have used the salvager and looted the debris it remains in my overvioew. This makes it very hard to keep track of which pieces of debris I have already salvaged and which ones I still have remaining.

Is there a way to mark in teh overview or anywhere else which items in space I have processed? I keep zig zagging back and forth to debris I've already dealt with.

Cheers

Form a fleet (it can be only yourself in it) and you'll have the option to "tag" items if you're in a fleet leadership position (you'll be 'boss' by default so it will be ok) and you right click on the can on your overview. If you enable the "tag" column on the overview (overview settings -> columns), you'll be able to see the tags you've assigned to items.

An easy way would be to tag all spawn containers you have visited with something like the letter X, but you can come up with more elaborate solutions.

i just locked an open door.. strange, yet symbolically compelling.

by way of additional explanation...

The cans that appear when you salvage a wreck with loot still in it are "jet cans", exactly the same type of can as the ones you create when you jettison cargo.

The cans you refer to in the Magneto site are "spawn cans" (this type also appears in missions, other types of sites etc.).

The "jet can" type implode when they are emptied, which is why they disappear. The "spawn cans" act like "anchored cans" and do not implode when empty and remain until the site/mission/related event is removed.

There is some functionality for wrecks to be filtered on the overview by "viewed"/"not view"... unfortunately this doesn't affect cans Sad (wrecks are a lot newer than spawn and jet cans so it looks like they got a bit more love when they were made).

Curiosity killed the Kata... ... but being immortal he wasn't too worried about keeping a count.

Thanks for that. I tried the fleet tags and it works as a fix.
cheers.

My personal strategy is to lock all cans when I warp in to the site and then unlock a can after I've looted it. It only works for limited amounts of cans, but it has always worked well for me (if cans are far enough away that you can't lock all at once, you can simply handle one cluster at a time).

If you have looted all cargo AND salvaged the wreck, neither the cargo container or the wreck should show on your overview. If you open a wreck's cargo, you will notice the wreck turns from white to grey on your overview to let you know you have already looked in this wreck.... kind of like opened and UN-opened emails.

I dont recall exactly if there is a "debris" that will show up on your overview after the wreckage has been looted AND salvaged... althought i know you can still see the debris in space for a few seconds before it despawns.

If you are still seeing the wreckage on your overview AFTER salvaging... that is an overview glitch.
