Carefully labeling everything as you can see from this presentation what is wrong with the new front page.

The purpose of the new website is to get new people excited about the game and get them to try it out. It's useful for people who want to get friends into the game, it's easy to use and promotes the game well.

You're criticising the website for promoting EVE. Again the website is not made for current EVE players we have the forums, the player community website, Evelopedia, and EVE Gate.

EVE is complex, you don't need to make the website that promotes the game to new players complex, and useless in order to prepare them for the game. Get them in and hopefully some of them will stay.

Nothing is more than 1 or 2 clicks away, so even if the front page is 'advertisement' I think people will be capable enough to click a link and get into the small and appropriate bits of detail provided.

As a current player you don't need to go to eveonline.com. Everything for you is at http://community.eveonline.com/

This. Every landing page for other MMOs contains a bunch of shiny stuff about features, things you can do in game, and a minimal amount of game news and such. The community content has its own community site. CCP is moving in the right direction.

OP is a terrible person and should have his internet rights revoked.

I don't see what's the big deal with the new website. The old website was just a cluster**** of information that is only easily interpreted by a veteran player. If a potential player comes in without the assistance of a veteran player, they will most likely get confused. That is bad marketing.

Good marketing is when the game is easy to understand from the start. There have been people who signed up for Eve and then rage-quit when they discover that they have been ganked for no reason while failing to notice that Eve Online is a cold, harsh world where these is hardly a single aspect of Eve where you are not affected by the actions of other players who learned to influence the market.

The new website is a plus. Although I think it can do better when it comes to warning players about ganks in high-sec space.

They've already said 100 times that eveonline.com is for NEW PILOTS, community.eveonline.com will be developed as the portal for existing pilots

I like it a lot. Even as a vet it's very nice to look at. It also (rightly) said i was a pirate, so yay for that.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

The rage is strong in this one.

Seriously though... CCP is going in the right direction. More new players = more potential content.

Now I just need a way to have that integrated into EVE Gate so I can get forums, community and the Gate all in one place.

That page is no better. Hiding links to things in hover-drop-downs is ******* terrible, and CCP seems insistent on ignoring good web design philosophy in sake of "ooooh shiny".

This crap needs to be reverted quick, and the CCP webteam needs to seriously take some new lessons in how to build an attractive website [NOT A GOD-DAMNED FLASHY WEBSITE].

Funfact:

IG Browser outdated?

Maybe update our ingame browser if your own site says it's old?

Don't know how enclosed the browser itself is and as long as there's no script injection through the browser that can touch my EvE or system I'm okay with it, if not...update, pls? :)

Edit says:

I'm okay with the site itself. I have no business there as the only thing I need as a subscriber is Account Management and Gate if I'm in the mood to.

In the end it's to attract new people and not us already paying.

New shiny ad copy is not going to change the high % of people that quit. Only thing that will do that is changing some of the game mechanics.

This page is similar than EVE has had years as advert.

I do not know why ccp had to make me watch their adverts i am already unhappy customer.

EVE had one of the best homepages before, now it is split on several different pages.

Also those pages contains very small area with actual data , with wide screen you are having more than 50% empty space.

Maybe ccp has not noticed that screens are going wider not higher.
