Ishtar, oh Ishtar...

Why are you so useless? I want to fly you so bad, but there's nothing you can do well.

Dual Rep? Myrmidon does it better at a quarter of the cost.
Nano Shield? Can't engage anything that can hit you from 20km - most notably, Hurricane and Drake. Derp.
Brick Tank? Wtf are you thinking.

Sad

When trying to fit an Ishtar one thing that immediately hits you is PG/CPU issues. I can not think of any ship that has more fitting issues than the Ishtar. It has a Medium Gun bonus but if it fits three Medium Blasters it literally has room for nothing else. Can this boat please get some much needed love?

Be careful when saying "nothing". It is a very absolute word. The Ishtar does a number of things extremely well. I assume from your examples above you are focusing on the PVP side?

It's the best cheap plexing ship in gur/serp space and most certainly the best if that space is hostile. If you're belllyaching about it being inferior as a pvp ship then i've got news for you: most hacs are just as useless.

The Ishtar shines as a PVE ship, not all ships are good at everything.

285 base CPU, hell, even T1 hulls have more! And that's double stupid and unfair since Ishtar needs a DLA so badly and that's 50 CPU!!!

Ishtar cant do anything pvp-related properly. it used to make a good nano platform before the atrocities like the Cyn became mainstream, and before tier 3's were introduced. now with the AF buffs, there isnt anything that cant catch the Ishtar. brick Ishtar doesnt have enough EHP, and cant project its dps properly. plated Deimos is a better AHAC.

nano shield Gila is a beast though. Ishtar = king of PVE.

I have a few friends who used to run serpentis plexes in passive shield tanked ishtars which they swore by. Apparently they can get a bomb tank that way and you just let your drones do the talking.

Used to be the go-to ship for hunting down those hidden Serpentis/Guristas and murdering them for profit.

The fact that everyone here is listing PVE scenarios really does show how much of a buff the Ishtar needs for pvp. It's a joke that the bonus is for medium hybrids but yet most of the popular fits are using small hybrids.

I'll gladly take a HAC that has a pve niche over a HAC that has no niche at all (eagle) or a hac who's niche is so small it has hardly been seen since the nano-nerf (sac). In-fact i'd take the ishtar over any hac today because they're all essentially useless in pvp thanks to tier3 bc being cheaper and better in most hac applications.

i havnt used a ishtar for a LOOOOOOOONG time, used to fly one at least once a week and even had afew fitted for different things.

Nowadays the ehp is very poor with extremly tight fitting limits and a blaster bonus for medium guns which if you fit, you have used half your grid and a 3rd of your cpu - and thats ONLY 3 GUNS!

Yeah ishtar atm is ishtarded

Try fitting an Omen and we'll talk.

While I don't disagree, the Ishtar is still a good ship in its class. It's just that HAC's have lost a lot of ground since tier2 and tier3 BC's.

I use an Ishtar as an exploration ship with good success. Has made me some nice profits, especially using sentry drones. It is good for that role, especially with the kin resist in gurist space.

Sigh.....

You leave your hi slots open.

Fit point AND scram AND web and speed tank it.

Deploy Sentries at 0 on gate. Tackle anything you want, kite, loot.

Ventro69: There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
