Almost 5 years after the release of v1 of SkillWatch I am pleased to announced version 2.0!

It is a Windows Sidebar gadget designed to monitor your character's currently training skill and ISK balance. You can monitor multiple characters by running multiple instances. It also shows your next skill in queue (if any) in the flyout. The flyout also has some additional character information and three links you can customize.

The major new features are that it now uses the new customizable API keys and it will automatically update it's list of skills when it comes across one it doesn't know. There are also various minor bug fixes.

Get it here: http://skillwatch.net/

Feel free to evemail me or contact me in game with any questions.

First of, great tool, keep up the work.

Second, some suggestions.

- Update the links to EVE Online site.

Additionally you could add
EVE Gate : https://gate.eveonline.com

- On the 'User" section when the user enters his/her credentials you could make an additional API call (when the API key access mask of course allows that call - 'SkillInTraining') and determine which character is in training and make that the initial choice in "Pick a Character" (this will add some AI to the gadget, Smile)

Just a note,
Windows gadgets were scraped by Microsoft.

Meh.

Ah, good catch. I customized those links for corp killboards, forums, etc and hadn't noticed the old links no longer worked. I'll get that fixed.

And good suggestion on detecting the active character on the account. Even tho some people use the gadget on characters that are not training (to monitor isk, to see if stuff has sold, etc) it makes sense to have it default to the character in training. One less click for people.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Yes, I heard that they are not going to work in Windows 8 but they still work in Windows 7 (and Vista, if anyone is still using that.)

Windows 8 have to make a very BIG impression to me, to switch over from 7 (best, most stable OS Microsoft ever made). Not to mention that a lot of people are still using XP.

For those having an issue downloading I have found the link to be incorrect on the web page, this is the correct URL:

http://skillwatch.net/gadget/EveOnline.gadget

Hundreds of people had downloaded it using the link that was on there but I changed it to specify the server and full path.

What isn't working 100% is it downloading it as a .gadget file instead of a .zip file (because the .gadget is really a .zip, after all). I'm working on adding the correct MIME type to fix that, now.

Well, that was easier than I expected. I tested it in firefox, ie, and chrome and it downloads as a .gadget everywhere and prompts to install.

Let me know if you run into any problems.

You had the URL formatted with the wrong slash you had:

http://skillwatch.net/gadget\EveOnline.gadget

Notice the after gadget it was a \ not a /

Ah, yes. Good catch. Odd that it worked for some and not other, tho.

Thanks for pointing it out - I've fixed it, now.

Do you have any plans on some how making this inform the pilot that there queue is low? Maybe make the background turn a different color or something?

Thanks,
