Fried Retinas

ShockedI am constantly BLINDED in space by these stupid nebulae clouds. Any programmer with any experience playing this game and any sense would realize it is a bad idea to blind people. Sure I can reposition the camera....but I'm getting sick and tired of that... I just want to enjoy the game without FRIED RETINAS !

How about we design A SLIDER for people to adjust the brightness of the background to a level they are comfortable with?

A game this advanced should not be so pitifully inadequate in the graphics department.

This has been an issue for years.

Sub.

Seriously, a slider to control brightness. Has anybody ever heard of such a thing?

I see one of two possible problems you are experiencing:
1. Your monitor is absurd
2. Your eyes are broken

That is all.

Hey Guys, thanks for all the helpful comments and ideas.
I guess my monitor must not be compatible with Eve. I should have bought the cheap sunglasses.
I am sad.

This. Didn't your mom teach you not to look directly at the sun? A nebula can have thousands of stars ("suns") burning so brightly that the dense gas clouds around them appear very bright to an unshielded eye.

If anything, EVE is a tad unrealistic in portraying the contrast of light and shadow in space. There is no atmosphere to scatter the light, so things should be either very dark or so bright it buuuuurns, depending on what you are looking at.

If you do not have sunglasses handy. you can simulate sunglasses with your video card driver settings (by adjusting various color/brightness/contrast settings that can be found there).

Your fault, not theirs.

.) You already have sliders. On your screen, in your drivers settings. Again, your fault.
.) Turn off BLOOM / HDR / PostProcessing.

We don't want that the game changes just because a few persons cry about something they could fix themselves !
The chance that your settings are at fault is WAY higher than all others ... now grow up or get out.

.) HOW DARE YOU QUESTION MY SUPERIORITY IT'S ALWAYS THE OTHERS FAULT WAHWAHWAH

Kinda have to agree with the OP. When you have to arrange the camera so that you're looking away from the focus of your activities, something is wrong. Besides, in many instances the nebula are so bright as to wash out module activation indicators. Now, we used to have letterboxing with the game which was a nice feature to combat this but, that was taken away from us. *sigh*

Don't ban me, bro!

@OP: Just disable/reduce bloom. There is an option for that in the graphics settings of EVE. That should do it.
