I've been unable to log in to my character for the past 2 days or so. I can get as far as the character selection screen. After choosing "Enter Game" my screen shows the usual progress bar for entering game "Entering Game as XXXX" then crash to desktop.

Y tried:

-Reinstalled
-Clear my settings folder
-lowering all graphical and sounds levels
-Try to log with another char in other station (far far away)

Finally opened a Ticket... and no word from CCP since... im already losing hours with no training.

Any one with the same problems?

Heya,

I have started having this issue suddenly today. However turning off "Load Station Environment" fixed it for me.

Once I was ingame I decided to test it further. Ship spinning works but CQ does not load and just crashes the client. In any station, repair did not work and I will not try to reinstall seeing it might not solve anything.

Would love to get some update from CCP about this.

It's the same for me. CQ crashes my clients. Did you update Nvidia drivers? Either it's the new patch or it's my drivers.

Yo,

same problem.

Downgraded my nVidia driver from 295.51 to 290.53, which worked before.
Did not help.

Gonna try this "Station Environment" thingy, this evening.

Thx, for that hint.

Has been happening to me since last Tuesday.

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=61731&find=unread

Its not just CQ, it seems to be all of empire. I logged into a character from another location and undocked and still crashed on my PC. I can log into my characters in w-space without crashing.

I reinstalled twice. Downloaded new drivers. Turned all settings down. Nothing can get it to work.

I have downloaded the latest Beta Drivers from nVidia, I think this was the issue why it started, however rolling back to 285.79 (Beta drivers I was using before because of BF3) did not help. Might be something with the drivers, I am not sure

Just reinstalled a 3rd time. I continually try to remove all EVE files from my PC but every time I reinstall it has saved my overview and account info. Very annoying, because I believe there are hidden filed on my PC I can't find. Even when "viewing hidden files".

Still not working.

I don't think it's because of the nVidia Beta driver.

EVE worked fine with 290.53 (Beta from December 2011). Then I updated to 295.51 (newest Beta) and SISI worked. Did not test TQ.
After Crucible 1.1.2 and Client Patch #1 the problems started.
Tried SISI, and SISI also did Client Patch #1, but not Crucible 1.1.2 update.
So I assume SIS was already running 1.1.2, but without Client Patch #1.
In my eyes this Client Patch #1 is to blame.

Anyway, I finally could enter TQ following Joha M'raadu's hint with the "Load Station Environment" setting.
I'm now stuck in ships hangar view. Switching to CQ still crashes the EVE Client. The rest works OK for me.

I'm happy to see this is also affecting Windows users.

We've been seeing it on Linux for a while now.

I see this same thing with CQ and if it's not a Linux-specific problem then CCP are likely to give it more attention.

I've been having this issue too. I managed to figure out that it was not only Eve but also other games, this lead me to believe it was a graphics driver, namely the latest beta release from nVidia. Uninstalling this and going back to an earlier version did not work. However uninstalling it, running driver cleaner pro, rebooting, reinstalling and then rebooting again got it all fixed. Also make sure you turn off any anti-virus programs or similiar while doing all of theese operations as it might conflict.

Anyways that solved all of this for me and I'm back ingame, hope this information can be of value to someone.

You are absolutely right, Skuggo.

I installed Std. VGA driver, uninstalled and deleted all nVidia driver and cleaned the registry, all in Windows Safe Mode.
Then I reinstalled nVidia 290.53 Beta.
This did solve my problem also.

Thx

Same here, do not install the latest nvidia beta drivers.

version 290.53 beta works fine.

This problem will need to be addressed by nvidia i think or maybe a minor fix in EVE to cope with new drivers, but then again, those are just beta drivers so lets blame nVidia XD

Confirming that CQ no longer works --- i just reinstalled windows and all - guess i shouldve read here before going through all that hassle -.-

Whether it be bad drivers or a fault in eve i dont know though

This is indeed CQ that is causing the crashing.
my 2nd account is in CQ mode while my main is in hangar mode, main can log in, 2nd account crashes.

Hitting 'Enter CQ' on my main crashes my main.

Turning off 'load station environment' is a temp workaround.
After logging in and re-enabling this my 2nd account stayed in hangar mode.

Same problem here. i/ and GTX570. Updated to the latest beta and eve started crashing when entering the captain's quaters. Everything else works fine.

I tried to revert the changes and reinstalled the latest non-beta driver (had chosen new install) but it didn't help at all.
Any ideas (exept to disable CQ ?).

I had the same issue. I thought it was the driver at first (I installed 295.51), but after uninstalling, rebooting into safe mode, running driver cleaner, rebooting, and reinstalling 290.53 (which worked just fine in the past) it still crashed. Turning off "load station environment" worked, and I am now sitting in the ship hangar until this bug is fixed.

The crash only occurs in the CQ. If I try to enter the captain's quarters, the crash occurs again.

I'll be sure to file a bug report.

Hi,

I had the same issue after I "updated" my Nvidia drivers (295.51). The solution has been given by Skuggo, couple of posts up. But it was a bit difficult to understand at once.

Anyway, I will explain how I fixed this driver issue (and yes, I also made a petition about it.)

1) Uninstall Nvidia 295.51 drivers
2) Reboot
3) Drive cleaner, just use the software you like the best (but it needs to remove the nvidia reg keys thats still left in the system) I used "Driver Cleaner Pro"
4) Reboot
5) Install last WHQL driver package (october 2011)
6) Reboot

Now CQ will work.

Open the game (dont log in) press settings and enable load station environment.
Then press apply, and log in as usual.

However, if you are like me, you want to be updated as you can be on the driver front.

Well, now you can safely update to the beta driver that was release BEFORE 295.51. That package still works fine, and CQ runs on it. And you don't need to reboot after the last update.

Hope someone can use this, and load CQ again.

Regards,
Kai

Didn't work for me. Still crashes trying to enter the CQ. (I used Driver Cleaner .net if that makes any difference.)
