NeoCom

Problems since the change:

1. Inability to monitor the state of the channels (such as local) while minimized.
2. Inability to toggle channels with 1 click (minimized to maximized as opposed to minimized to chat tab to maximized).
3. Inability to select the channel/tab you want maximized without hovering over it first to figure out what it is.
4. Constant flashing.

Possible fixes:

1. Need the option to move channels and channel groups onto the bar.
2. Need the icons of the channels to be something other than “I” (same can be applied to other minimized windows other than the information windows).
3. Such channels as Local, Incursion, Corp, Alliance (Corps have a personal icon that can be used as do Alliances) that are not player created need their own icon to make them easy to find once they are on the bar.
4. Need the name of the channel and the population of it to be visible while minimized to allow easy monitoring as was possible prior to the change.

Personal wish list:

Horizontal alignment of the NeoCom as an option in the future.

Side notes:

Anything that continuously flashes will soon begin to get on your nerves, which is why the old NeoCom buttons would flash a few times to get your attention and then remain lit to show you that something has occurred in that tab. Only channel tabs used to blink continuously but the big difference was that you could individually turn the blinking off on each channel.

P.S. World’s Smallest Button aka the overload in the HUD now has a cousin, World’s Smallest Mouse-Over Display aka the Training Queue in the NeoCom.

Edit: added possible fix for Corp & Alliance chat channel icons.

I envy the level of restraint shown in this post. I tend to get mad as hell when people deliberately set out to break things I enjoy.

+1 for a concise and obvious list of neocom issues which somehow made it through to release.

+1 OP

I really hope the devs will discuss about the new minimize function, I find frustrating to see all those blue i's icons without knowing which one is the window I want to maximize again.

I am so done being polite with CCP.

Tried to give them s*it... made me feel better but obviously didn't help much either...
...thankfully that doesn't prevent me from trying even harder.

All they really listen is unsub so that is what I did. AGAIN.
These ones are for you mr Optimal and also to the guy behind the wonderful new missile names.

I hope that Hellmar will find a way to spank some brain back to your heads.

This!

...needs to be fixed!

The old NeoCom blink-effect, as described by OP, was GOOD, was visible and clear, how the hell could one mess that up?!

The new blink effect is not only annoying, but if you move your eyes onto it, and look for something, you need a second or two if it is not flashing right now, whereas the old NeoCom would show you without delay, what needed attention!

If it looks good it is good (perhaps reviewing this statement could do some good for the game).

You're quite right, that blinking is pretty annoying and having checked, the behaviour is different to the old blink notifications. I've brought this to the attention of the NeoCom team and it will be addressed at some point in the near future to match what it was like before the new NeoCom was introduced.

:brofist:

EDIT: FYI the old behaviour was: blink - blink - blink - highlight

I would like to add that the "Ships" context box is closed by default - OPEN IT! I don't want to have to select ships every time I dock FFS.

May just be my client but goddamnerama it's annoying.

Aaaaaaand relax.

I tested the following steps on our dev server and on TQ and I can't reproduce what you're describing:

  1. Open 'Ships' while docked
  2. Undock
  3. Dock
  4. Ships window is where I left it

are you doing this and getting a different result?

Indeed - it is shut every time I dock without fail - no matter what state it was in upon undock.

Have you considered simply double clicking the top bar of your chat window to minimize it down to a single thin bar (that shows the chat channel names and population) at the very bottom of your screen?

This functionality was not removed.

Jayem, that sounds like it "might" be a "clear your cache" issue.

Just posting to confirm I have the same issue

Edit: Tried the cache clearing fix suggested above. No dice.

yet u need to move the window after double clicking again in order to be able to read anything.

doing this with the window positioned somewhere on the top of the screen might be the way to go tho, but needs
a lot of time for rethinking.

Negative result - "Ships" is still firmly and resolutely closed upon docking. Grrrrrrr.

Am just going to throw this in here as an aside to the above-mentioned issues.

Add a "Close to Neo" or "Minimise" option - it'll be a pain to start with but will then open up TRUE customisation of the UI.

Aaaaaaand relax.

You can try the following but know that performing any of these steps will remove some of your settings, you have been warned:

Your window settings are not saved in the cache, you have to purge them using one of the following methods:

  • Your first option is to open the ESC menu in-game and select 'Reset to Default Window Positions'
  • If that doesn't work and you're feeling brave you could try 'Clear All Settings' (no prizes for guessing what this will do!)
  • Pro Mode: go to this EVElopedia guide on how to manually clear settings in Windows Explorer

I hope this works for you

Thanks for taking the time to reply. In the interest of un-hijacking this thread I posted it here:

Ships Window

I've tried number 1 to no avail.

Am extremely reluctant to try the others

EDIT MAJOR STYLE - this did solve the problem but it took a couple of session changes to do so - thanks for your help.
