I know its over-tanked, because I usually just pull the whole / most of the site and shoot away.
The TP is for frigates mainly.
With my drake I usually kill in a couple of volleys, and with about half the dps of the tengu, so I'm not very worried about fitting rigors.
It has a strong cap in case I get a neu mission or decide to ignore the triggers and get a few BSs with some webbing frigates.

And yes, I know its expensive or gank inviting. I usually fly in a quiet system so I'm not that worried about it.


Any suggestions / ideas are welcome.

Everything is ok xept rigs and painter. Tengu can have 600 dps tank without any CCC's... triple rigors ftw.

785 omni tank (57.9%/91.6%/87.4%/78.9%). I will put a photon instead of the second invu.
688 dps with my skills.

Can you recommend a fit without having to resort to cap implants?
I tried but I'm always a bit short of cap stable (and yeah, I know, don't really have to be).

I can put 2xT2 rigors and T1 CCC. But not sure if worth the cost (or well actually it will cost the same I guess).
I was also told that I can drop the rigors and TP all together, because frigates will drop quick enough anyway if I will use T1 ammo on them.

You have over 2 billion in modules on something that can get suicide-ganked by two to three ships costing ~200-300 million isk.

It's also way over-tanked. Only Stop the Thief or Silence the Informant could warrant such an over-abundance of caution, and the former can be safely blitzed, while the latter isn't worth running.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Right now you have an expensive and inefficient setup.

You're fit needs rigor/flare rigs to be effective.

^this setup is a hell of a lot cheaper than yours, still ridiculously overtanked, but much, much better.

shiny med ds boosters are way overtank fits. If you like sitting still...go for it. If you like to move around, can get a much cheaper tank that works jsut as well.

unless you got the isk to burn. drop the 4th CN bcu and run plain ole t2 for it instead. Eft the numbers....with stacking penalty you are throwing money away imo. T2 will be a real subtle drop. So small it won't really be missed unless you are too far gone on the path of eft warrior imo. Way less isk spent as well.

What I run and why:

6 HML II

2 Gist b ssb
2 passive racial gist b passives or I invul II 1 gist b passive (usually em for drone/merc omni tank)
1 RF 10 mn ab
1 eccm II

Lows
3 CN BCU
1 Sensor backup array

Rigs
CCC II
Flare II
Rigor II

The same subs all pve tengu's run lol.

Why:

When I had lower engineer/navi skills, the CCCII got me stable. Not needed now but too lazy to pull it atm and may do funky crap with the tengu that may need it.

Rest of the rigs for killing small fast movers. Will replace your TP which is kind of pointess on this ship imo.

I used to run unprobable so why the eccm and backup array. Now jsut hard to find and jam. This setup with talons might get you jammed maybe 1-2 times in the longest and most crowded gurista missions. I can do whole GE's with no jams on a good day. Hard to find to helps keep my wrecks all hidden (and well kind of stuck with the implants now post nerf lol) as well. The added damage of he 4th bcu did not thrill me so saw no reason to change setup post nerf. If for you go for it.

Gist B passives helps with cap stable. gives what I think are very nice resists for the money. And gets you resists that can't be neuted out. All except em are cheap. Also nice to have a tank that is working if you forget to turn it on alot. I am cap stable with 2 active hards now since I jsut went to town in support skill maxing (more for other ships not this one) as well...but I got the fittings so I run them. Passive resist skill 4 works fine for these.

Gist B ssb...might run 1 most of the time and tank is fine. AE bonus room and just a few ohter instances are where I need to push both of them. these I got lucky with, got them when they were much cheaper.

the savings on this setup can set you up for some implant buys (use lp's to offset costs if you want to). Buy accorrding to tastes and wallet but I run the 5% rof, explosion radius, target velocity, and HML damage implants. 3 of the 4 will carry over to any missile boat you fly. the hml 5% damage gets more kinetic damage or 5% more damage if you like shoot say EM at bloods.

Nobody in favor of using a Loading Bay Accelerator II? Depends on the ships being attacked I suppose. It adds 6.4% extra damage, but the tripe Catalyst rigs will add a lot more to Frigate and Cruiser damage.

And also, I personally hate flying with an empty rig slot.

I prefer the "bayloading II" setup, with a smal DS Booster. A lot of tank comes from transversal speed. Orbit a can, a wreck or a gate and you wont even be hit by many ships.

Use a cheaper fit, because one well aimed, or two shots from a Tornado will pop your Tengu.

example for an em tank ( the weakest so I took it )

750 dps
830 dps with imps 5% ROF and 5% HM Dmg ( a must have if you really want good dps )

420 sustained tank which is even ok for a blockade, if you keep your speed up and orbit a can, or anything.

Costs around 900 mil and can even be fitted a lot cheaper.

Keep some faction HMs in your cargo against Elite Frigs, it's not a Raven where you need tons of Rigors an TPs to match the signature of the opponent ships.

The Explosionraidius of the T2 Missiles is 160m and 93m for T1/ Faction ( T2 Cruise is 400m ). You may need one volley less now and then for a elite Frig with your TP/ Rigor whatev, but in the end you will be a lot faster with more DPS. A cruiser has a sig of roughly 125m a Frig 50m.

Try it and don't forget the IMPS: ZMM 1000, ZMH 2000, ZMS 1000, ZMA 1000

Honestly if you wanna just go in and pull the entire room just get a rattlesnake, if you want to blitz missions use the tengu but no need for pithum A its way way way way way to expensive and totally not needed for tank on a tengu.

You can run 4s with a Pithi C easily! Just don't sit still and orbit stuff. Use the T3's as it was meant to. It's a god damn Cruiser.

I use a HAM Tengu for blitzing level 4s, it gets through them at a truly shocking rate. Gives me 960dps with 5% implants and Tech2 Rage Kinetic HAMs, if you are out of range then just use Javelin HAMs while you close the range, before reloading to Rage. Rage HAMs have 40km+ range, Javelins have 70km+ range. I also use a TP and Fed Navy Webber for Frigates. You NEED Advanced Weapon Upgrades 5, it's very tight on powergrid, but it's quite a simple and cheap fit:

Thanks all.

From all the recommendations, I will use a gist c-type instead and two T2 rigors.
That will keep it in decent cost and be good enough and no need to cycle a TP, and still be cap stable.
With a few low-grade crystals I will have about 580 omni tank, which should be enough for most.
