eve gate social integration in&out game

Eve gate has this feature called 'chatter'. Now some people might use this extensively, but I personally never saw a use for it. The reason is simple. It's an island, it's on eve gate and no where else. Not in game (afaik) and not beyond eve gate. This makes it useless as a communication tool.

The web now a days is all about embracing existing platforms and making use of existing communities. Eve has those communities. On twitter, facebook, google+ etc.. Why not embrace those existing vibrant communities and pull them closer into the game.

What I propose would either replace the current chatter feature or be alongside it. It would implement OStatus (or other suitable standard) and allow integration with today's large platforms like twitter and facebook creating a synced experience in which messages are visible on both platforms.

Then extend this further by adding an in-game client for this new eve gate service, so one can post status messages in game and have them appear on eve gate as well as on any bound twitter or facebook account(s). As well as the other way around and a status update from someone I am following will appear in-game, perhaps similar to how contacts coming on-line works. As a simple non-intrusive pop-up.

This will draw in the existing social aspects from outside of eve into the game and take the social experiences from inside the game outside of it in a more streamlined fashion that is currently used.

Imagine the following use case:
- I just killed a T3 of which I'm very proud so I open up my in-game status update app, and "tweet" about it. Some other eve player who was walking around town and follows me on twitter can then immediately share in my accomplishment and comment on it. Which if he has bound his account to the eve gate service I would then see in-game as well.
