Will Incarna have NPCs in stations? (Lone capsuleer blues)

So...

i was at my CQ and looked at how many people was docked to my current station, and, well, there was like 8 people in the station (visitors were docking and undocking continuously). So I figured myself, what would happen if i could walk out? Very probably I would meet noone out there.

Although some stations will have lots of movement and i figure most capsuleers will go to Jita or the trade hubs to have a chit-chat (or to crash the local station grid with too many avatars), I am curious about wether there will be NPC in stations or the stations will be "cleaned out" of "peasants" whenever we almighty capsuleers fancy to have a walk alone... very alone... on the empty, very empty stations of our homes, away from the main hubs.

Personally I fancy to talk to my agents at their offices (ah, Privateer memories), but my question is more general: Will there be NPCs at all in stations? Can I (we?) get some blue tag for this matter? Question

Finally someone gets it....

Before you only entered your hangar.

Backstory did cover up the rest of the station, it was fine enough.

Now you will find yourself alone in huge space station, or the huge space station is actually small as dogs hut.

there will be NPCs in establishment, I am prettysure. As far as talking to agent goes i can very well imagine the dev answer:

NPCs will definitely be a part of the Incarna Immersion, that includes Agents and much more cool stuff in the future. Currently however, we are focusing on the release of the other racial quaters and establishments, so we cannot give you an estimate or any further details of the above.

Sounds almost official, yep. Lol

Would be nice to have a blue tag on this issue, as I have been reading the devblogs as they were issued and can't remember to have read anything on NPCs and Incarna.

On top of this, will station interiors look different by race?

I expect there'll be some, but from what I understand of the Chronicles and other backstory stuff, capsuleers when out of their pods stay pretty far away from the rabble, so I wouldn't necessarily expect a ton. Not to mention the load NPCs have on any engine, it provides a semi-canon way of explaining minimal NPCs for technical reasons.

I saw your head and immediately thought of Kelly McGillis telling Tom Cruise that he would "never be happy unless he was going mach 2 with his hair on fire."

I consider CCP Zymurgists comment in another thread quite fitting for this one:

This is not a service to be advertised on the EVE Forums... In fact I'd almost go as far as saying this has nothing to do with spaceships at all. Thread locked

I'd like to know how empty stations will be handled. Will they be instanced? And what I mean by that is, will all stations be connected to a list of instances that are currently populated, giving the illusion that the station you're in is actually populated? Inquiring minds want to know!

well, stations have:

- repair bays (who manages them?)
- 'hatching' bays for removing pod pilots from their pods
- a post office or someone to deliver the stuff you purchase from the market (or do we walk around the market looking at shelves for this stuff? lol)
- mission agents who refuse to use technology to communicate (because?!?) that you have always had to talk to 'face to face' should be here.
- also who maintains the place so that it just doesn't wear out?

should be a lot of people milling around, not every soul in the Universe is able to use medical clones!!

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

I guess no blue tag is going to answer this question... one last bump and i will let it cool off before asking again. Sad

I'm not wearing a blue tag, but.. In Burning Life (the novel), capsuleers are depicted with having their own off-limits area in stations, visible to the rest of the people but not accessible. Considering the vulnerability of a capsuleer out-of-pod and the amount of enemies one is bound to make while blowing up things that will eventually amount to millions of people, not many capsuleers would want to mingle with the commoners.

I dont see how adding an active station environment would be any more taxing that what we get in space. Lots of MMO's have multi-character environments. Being able to talk to an npc for missions would be cool.

We have talked about putting NPCs in establishments. Think of a scriptable bartender or maybe a barker to get people to join your corporation. I am unaware of when this will happen or any solid details but keep in mind that we want to the interactions in establishments to be meaningful and based around capsuleers.
