If you like single shooter games you might wanna try out a few EA games.

When it comes to MMO's then EA is the worst choice for you.
Just look at how they screwed over all those Earth & Beyond players.

EA just doesn't have the stamina nor the inclination to have a MMO running for years while developing and nurturing it as soon as a somewhat competative concept comes along which they can't buy from it's owner and then mess up.

Wow...you have determined this when the game has been out a whole...month?

You should also get your facts checked since SWTOR is breaking records in sales and first month subs. More successful than EvE I would say.

EA is the absolute worst example of a game developer in modern history. They are like apple except without the success and creativeness.

EA is the Nickleback of the game industry.

While you are correct about how much EA sucks, there is Ubisoft as well, and Zynga is a promising upstart for becoming the worst of the worst. Makes you sometimes think whether there is some kind of achievement linked to be the biggest **** of all customer rapists calling themselves game developers.

I got lost in thought... it was unfamiliar territory.

That is the craziest thing I've ever heard. Although I've secretly dreamed of something like this, I don't think I'd give up my EVE character for some half-arsed EA MMO.

So you have determined that TOR is more successfull than EVE when the game has been out a whole.... month?

Also, different playerbases.

TOR = greasy kids who like big and thick lightsabers and need a storyline because they don't have the creativity to create their own in a sandbox.

EVE = greasy adults who like big and thick blobs of other greasy adults shooting lasers at each other and lagging the whole thing to kingdom come.

Totally different people, yo.

EDIT: BY THE WAY, Star Trek Online had over one million active subscribers after the first month. And it had one of the worse MMO releases ever.

I.E they don't know what they are supposed to be, they suck very badly at what new things they attempt and their fans are only there so that we can have a group of people we unanimoulsy make fun off?

any SW ip will break records in presales and first month sales

lets see what you say in 6 months when its f2p

and EA stocks took a hit on the abysmal reviews of TOR, so you might take your own advice on fact checking

EA murdered the Command and Conquer Series. They screwed over many studios that they took in. Now the Battlefield series is becoming butchered by them.

EA can kiss my ass and go die along with Activision and Greedy Bobby Kotick.

Wheras anyone who plays Eve is perfectly well balanced and knows a good deal when they see one.

I have played EA MMOs (and single player games) for years because I have some old friends sticking there. They all invariably suck, their maintenance sucks, their support sucks (some games DEMAND you pay overseas phone calls!), their "deliver too early and forget about that game" politic sucks.

EA is where former good gaming companies go die an inglorious, slow death.

EVE is on Tranquility, so its one server however much you want to complicate it. It amuses me to no end how some Eve players think they are so smart, but just end up sounding like a smug jackass.

Does being smarter than you make me smug? Certainly. I'm quite proud of the fact. Being intelligent has opened many doors in my life, even if it makes me a bit insufferable.

Hello, Gabriel Mangeiri!
On our "multi-sharded multi-server world" probably no one will find you, currently hidden on Nourvukaiken VII - Moon 18 - Ytiri Storage station in the Nourvukaiken system. And for sure one never bring suicide Tornado just to pop your capsule and prove that your point of view is totally wrong.
Feel safe now Pirate

What exactly is your point here? Are you trying to scare me? I haven't undocked Gabriel since I created him, and the first time I do, it will be to suicide and move to his clone to 9GI-FB. If you want to trek all the way out there to try and prove something, be my guest, big boy. The locals aren't too friendly, but that won't be my problem, now will it?

But you still log onto a single shard, Tranquility, which was the whole point. Gabriel proved to be unable to connect the dots which kenxi pointed out to him with a RL analogy.

Exactly. Shard, not server. Saying it's "just semantics" is nothing more than an excuse that stupid people use. I'm well aware of what he meant, thank you. That doesn't change the fact that Tranquility is a server cluster, not a single machine. There is a difference, and it's a huge one.

Still, you are the one that is making an issue out of a non-issue, because even if I know that TQ is hosted at a data center in London, I really don't care if people choose to call it server, realm, shard or hamster box.

And nor should you as you look stunningly and embarrassingly stupid for arguing semantics.

I see. You're obviously assuming I'm anything other than apathetic regarding your perception of me. Please, let me take this chance to assure you that I honestly couldn't care less that you, as a human being, currently draw breath, let alone that you dislike me. Let me further assure you that until someone in a position of authority over the forum stops me, I'll continue to argue whatever niggling little details amuse me.

Thank you for you time.

EA are good at business, but horrible for games.

They messed up CnC4 so bad that I actually quit playing it. even though I really want to know the continued story. Even if it's crappy, which it is from what I read.

If EA didn't spend 5 years developing games based on what 500 idiots blithering away on the pre-release/pre-beta forums said, they might actually come up with something good.

The plus side of that, is that whatever new MMO they are working on hasn't made it past the drawing board, so we shouldn't expect to see it for 5-10 years, and they'll probably cancel it half way through development, like half a dozen other games they've worked on recently.

Not at all. I just disagree with you, that is all.

And please do, I am sure it would amuse everyone as you argue semantics.

Their EA sports franchises are still doing amazing. Dead Space 2 carried on strong from Dead Space 1, unfortunately the Sims series is still amazingly strong (where I wish it would f##k off and die) Need for Speed is still as popular as ever*.

And for the horrible horrible way they destroyed C&C, they still have their logo on Westwood's two best titles. RA2 and E:BFD.

*Unfortunately they won't bring back Road Rash, bastards.

Only sports does well and that is because of licenses and underhanded business practices. Their sport games are garbage. I'd take PES 12 over FIFA 12 anyday of the week.

Also dead space was better than the sequel, sims is a joke now and need for speed is trash. Red alert beats RA2!

So the folks over at EA Games told me about their brave new concept that will shatter the MMO market. "Transferable Progress".

If your a 8 year EVE Veteran EA Games plans on calculating your previous investment in EVE at a half-time rate, and giving you 4 years of experience in their upcoming MMO release.

EVE is not alone in this defilement, EA has a neatly defined table for each MMORPG on the market, and plans on making players "veterans, day one".

Doesn't this constitute some violation of intellectualism ?
