They're so pre-Crucible. For what reason have they not been changed?

Personally I like them very much. They make you feel like you're in a completely different area of space than usual. And they're very detailed. In my opinion.

I think they haven't been changed because they don't need to be. Things that were changed//overhauled in Crucible weren't done so "for the lulz", they were done because they really really really needed to be done. Pretty much every change made in Crucible has been a nagging thorn in the side of EVE for several expansions, even back to before I started playing. But wormhole system non-static backgrounds are one of the wonders that make EVE great.
