i have this new idea that i will have to bring to light slowly after i paint you a picture.

ok pretend you are that 4 month old toon happy as can be reading your homework and mining and some suicide ganker or can flipper ruins your mood by killing your retriever. you realize that your in a 12 man corp and your alone online at the moment and you notice the player that killed you was 4 years old in a 200 man corp.
what do you do? reality says let this go....
all you have on your side going for you is kill rights and a locator agent.
you know your out classed and out mached.

ok now this senario is out and you can see the little mans point of view...

now to the idea!

imagine if the player had 2 new skill books available to him
first skill book be something like mercenary contacts- allows 1 npc merc per level
and a second skill book that can be trained if the above skill is level 4 or 5
this skill book called something like mercenary reputation- allows 1 npc merc per level (stackable)
with these skills you can controle your very own fleet of mecs to assist you in your attempts to exact revenve!

here are the guidlines
with skills above you can only fleet 1-10 mercs
mercs are double the cost of your current skill value. if your 1 mill sp it cost you 2 mill isk to get 1 merc
mercs you fleet lowers your security status by .25 as long as they are in fleet concord not like ruffians roaming about in empire.
mercs have 4 roles dps, logi, ewar, tank and thier skill in each of these depend upon your skills.
mercs you fleet have the same skills you do so if u have no ewar skills the ewar merc you fleet is useless.
mercs will be mostly AI do thier own thing as they know thier roles but you have a small fleet controle pannel to say assult!
mercs fly the shame ship classes you do
mercs will disban fleet and cease fire the second the leader (you) are killed.
mercs can be used for any fleet role that does not require them to use acceleration gates
so eve dont get to ******** make it so if player fleets another player mercs disban from fleet

ok let the flame begin! lol
if you have something to add or constructive your awesome if you flame i expect it if you love it tell me your oppinions

this idea is wild and way out on left field but maybe it still can be good?

actually, this looks like it has some serious potential. it would be extremely expensive for older characters to get mercs, and helpful to get new players on their feat.

the only thing i would add are a couple limitations. mercs can only be hired from a mercenary office in hisec (available in every station) , that way low and nullsec aren't completely ruined by "rich fleets" that can afford expensive mercenary npcs.

the second limitation would be a an SP cap. players over 20 mil skill points wont be able to hire mercs, as they should have enough experience to be able to avoid getting ganked, get friends, and should have some basic pvp skills by this point.

oh and mercs will follow people like fighters, and should be able to use jump gates, but wont follow players into low or nullsec, as npc mercs should only be for noob protection.

a sp cap is resonable but sometimes the most skilled toons are solo players and this 50 million sp toon will die in a conbat vs 3 10 mill sp toons so in theroy the 50 million sp toon has to part with 100 mill isk per merc and and a set of 10 mercs is 1 billion isk lol that in its self is discouraging.

but remember 1 thing 1 big toon will never mach a buch of baby toons so this idea is more of that solo/hermit players opertunity to attempt to retaliate.

i think the mercs should fallow you through any gate in eve they just wont use acceleration gates i do not think mercs need to use any sort of jumping or any travel other than normal travel gate to gate anywhere in high sec or 0.0 no matter.
i think the mercs shoud remain by your side so if you let your target slip away he is gone unless you can chase him down.
as for location to find these mercs you should have to travel into low sec to any public station and speek to any locator agent in any low or null sec station and 3 options pop up 1st mission 2nd locate player 3rd locate mercs!
remember these mercs are damaging your sec status so if you have a bad status already and you hire mercs concord will kill you and force your mercs to disban from fleet.
that is if the sec status stuff is there the sec rules dont have to apply.
maybe add a 3rd skill book to lessen the effect of your sec status loss as you enter empire so you can have low sec status and not get concorded

the mechanics of this idea is unraveling as ideas poor in but ccp has the overall say in the balancing but just ammagine the possibilities for those few players who have some isk but not enough attack power to exact revenge.

hey maybe a merc deplomacy book that can bonus off your negitive sec status for every negitive number a new diplomacy skill book would cheepen the merc price???

example you can get mercs dirt cheep if your a -10 pirate with deplomacy merc 5 cut cost in half
-10 sec status x skill level reduces price!
-5 sec x level 2 skill =10 =save 10%
so your 50 mill sp hire 10 mercs no bonus = 1 bill but if your skill is level 2 and sec status -5 your new price is 900 mill you save 10%

Kill rights should be linked to the bounty system.

It would kill 2 birds with one stone.

1) It would help poor noobs like you get revenge against players that hopelessly outclass you.
Instead of just waisting isk on putting a bounty on his head which he can claim himself with and alt/friend.

2) It would inspire a profession in bounty hunting.

Simply put: You get to the bounty office, post your kill-rights and whatever generous offer of isk you'd like to use as an incentive.
Another pilot can check the bounty office, scorge for a list of contracts which offer an enticing payday, and on acceptance, killrights are transfered to him.

3) to make it even more interesting, once the rights are tranfered, it should work both ways (like a mini wardec) the target, should also be allowed to aggress with one which now holds bounty on his head. If either kills the other (target or the bounty hunter).
The killright ends. If the bounty hunter was successfull, contract complete, he gets his isk. If the target gives the bounty hunter a forced 'retirement' the contract is failed.

tada!

This idea would be good but you can bet your ass that the 0.0 troll gank will be coming soon to try and scare people away from the this, it seems a lot like X3 but you have to train skills first in order to use it, I could definitely live with this but a lot of people will make the 'argument' that MMORPGs aren't for solo players and solo players or small groups should be punished for trying to play even though that makes no sense since why else would they allow for that play style in the first place?
