PVP is player versus player. Conflict. Gank is not fight. Gank is slaughter. You defend weak play. You defend exploit for poor design.

We are not standing back to back, walking off into the mist with twirling moustaches and matchlock pistols. If you are after a duel, there are games that create the opportunity to do so. World of Warcraft, for example, you can right-click another player and duel them. Or better yet, you can pick up a real world skill like Fencing where it is your fitness and skill and your opponent, nobody else.

Why would anybody not do everything to mitigate their risk? In a one on one fight you run the risk of losing. A ten on one fight reduces that risk. Yeah, it sucks for the poor sap that just got 10-manned, but hey ... maybe they'll learn and get some friends as escort. Maybe they'll find the corp and kill their members. Go hunting for their POS. Infiltrate them with a spy and ... wait.

This video explains it better.

You make your own choices. Fight back or be a victim. You can play the victim and call gank. Or you can turn around have your revenge.

All other mmo's feel so hollow and pointless, when everything you have worked for is not destroyed in an instant and gone forever. At least thats my personal opinion.Cool

Most ganks are an annoyance. The problem is volume and profitability. A couple groups of gankers give the game character. If something works for one group pretty soon you'll get a hundred guys trying it somewhere around Jita. This is especially a problem with haulers as anyone doing any halfway serious trade or industry can pack one to the point that a gank is profitable.

Of course you can. Doesn't mean it's smart.

If it's small volume, high value, use an orca. If it's large volume (or high value) use courier contracts. Set your collateral right and you're fine. If your margin is too low to accept hisec courier rates, it's time to rethink your market.

Really though, it's mostly the annoyance factor of getting alphaed. Going from full to pop in a non-combat ship in a non combat situation sucks.

I have never seen a ship get alphaed while docked. If someone has managed to do that to you, I would suggest petitioning it as an exploit.

My problem with ganking is how Concord treats it. If an individual attacks a person, they should become KOS for everyone in that person's GROUP, not just corp, for at least 12 hours to a day. CONCORD should not shoot down a battleship if it retaliates against a suicide brutix who is shooting a hulk in that battleship's group.

The problem is that ganking requires no challenge. No risk. You know what you will lose- you plan it out. Your opponent has NO HOPE of stopping you. Your opponent's friends, shy of being in a corp with them, have NO CHANCE of getting you back. You lose 10-20 mil at most, your target loses nearby a bil.

I wish CONCORD would either do something about it or stay the hell out. Don't pick a halfway point, let the ganks happen and then WTFPWN everyone in the guy's group who wants a piece of the attacker later on. Make suiciders a KOS target to all involved for an entire day so that they suddenly have risk involved in what they are doing. Or nerf suiciding even more.

CCP: please either let the players handle suiciding and leave CONCORD out of it, or handle suiciding yourself and make it more costly to the attacker. Don't reward this carebearish behavior of risk free PvP.

YES!

It is not die that is the problem. One reason I am love EVE is reason death is important. My ire it is with the way of no defend. No tactic.

If even allow pirate make declare "war" for one person. Then they are watch, study, hunt and no just sit best place shoot the ducks.
Mail: "A person or group has bribe the Concord." Only! Fini! No who, no nothing.

They can hunt and shoot these people but if they smart they have friend protect and when hunter shoot, all for prey fleet is make aggression to shoot them.
Is good chance for hunter become prey!

EVE must equal harsh for the ganker!

Why is it always someone's alt. or someone from a huge 0.0 alliance that says these sort of things? I've been ganked before and I have nothing against it, what I object is when the game forces me to be ganked purely because of what ship I fly or my playstyle.

When you have stupids like this it becomes a moot matter. Industrial pilots have many ways to defend themselves, its not the falt of the ganker if they chose not to use any of them.

Some way prevent. No way cure unless T1 Frigate.
Good industrial catch and good ganker - always ganker win. Only super stupid ganker fail.

Prevent.

No revenge.

It's a SANDBOX, people.

They do indeed want all to do only PvP. (GIGANTIC YAWN...)

......with the LAG ??? REALLY ??????????

If they even THINK CCP will let all that go, or let things go TOO far for the casual player...............

I think ( I DO know how to do that) they are about to have shot themselves in the foot.

What with the Incursion Derp-ing recently, it's way too late for them to act 'casual' about their activities.

I see many falling Hammers.....................

.....and even I Ganked a botting Mack this past evening.....and they call me a 'carebear'. Roll

When are people like you going to make a more convincing argument that doesn't revolve around wasting hours upon hours doing a repetitive and boring tasks that we may as well be getting CCP to pay us for?

If you think playing EVE online is a repetitive and boring task that is your problem. I just play the game and I think it is exciting even when i fail and get ganked.

It's a Multiplayer Sandbox. Multiplayer is the important word there.

You can do whatever you want. So can I. When those two wants collide, conflict occurs. The Sandbox aspect means that the game doesn't say: "OK, Player 3 was there first, so Player 4 needs to do something else." The Players get to hash out the results of the conflict.

I wonder at what point ppl will understend the real point of this tread, mayby horibly bad talking from the OP (even i spell beter) can give you clue ?

Funny thing is the "let us defend ourselves" is actually an argument for less Concord. The logical extension to the reasoning is "if only we could shoot at the gankers before they conduct their alpha strike...". The remainder of that sentence is, of course, "...without Concord blowing us up."

The answer given the current game mechanics is null sec.

I'd be in favor of Remote Shield Extenders, though. It'd be interesting to be able to defend against the initial alpha. This would also be a potential counter to blobs.

All that means is they planned ahead better than you did.

-You could run less cargo so its value isn't worth their time to shoot you.
-You could take a route around known gank areas
-You could get others to help you (shocking thought i know) so you know where the gankers are waiting ahead.
-You could put all your cargo in cans so the risk is higher for the gankers that they get nothing

Well, the OP allegedly wants to be able to attack all the alts and the main of the ganker, some disposable suicide ganker alt hardly matters to anyone, so killing them wouldn´t be worth jack. Being able to hunt down your main that you safely use for nullbearing ratting with your shiny officer-fitted ship, thats what could be called risk of receiving retaliation.

This would mean
1. that if you have multiple accounts, they can all be identified belonging to you.
2. if you get killrights for a player, you get killrights for all of his accounts.

Not neccessarily a bad idea. After all, being able to use multiple accounts to do all the risky things with worthless accounts and having everything valuable in safe accounts does make eve somewhat of hello-kitty online.

I got lost in thought... it was unfamiliar territory.

Seems fair enough. A disposable suicide ganker alt can hardly kill anything that's worth jack either.

Well, i´m hardly an expert when it comes to suicide ganking, however i had the impression that´s what they are doing all the time: killing easy targets with disposable stuff using toons that are meant to die on a regulary basis. For bigger targets do the same while blobbing together with alts and likeminded people.

I got lost in thought... it was unfamiliar territory.

So why does EVE have to be the same?

You definitely need to find something to do in life, here are options I want to have in EVE if someone attempts to gank me

. Badass self-destruct sequence which does AOE damage to anyone around the ship when it explodes, damage done should be based on the size of the ship and whether there are explosive materials in the cargo hold i.e actual explosives or ammunition etc. yes, I lose the ship, but I want to be able to take down you lot as well, I'd love it if the closer you flew to the enemy before they shoot you the more damage is done

. We can get drones as industrials so why not allow us to reprogram our mining lasers to turn onto the enemy?

. Having a warp disruptor countermeasure that actually works would be nice too so we could slip away and **** off our pursuers, I already had a thread on this in features and ideas so go look for it you lazy wankers

. Use the asteroid belts we were just mining in for cover to hide behind and take out enemy using free flight which would need real skill rather than just an omgwtf battleship

. Allow us to turn off our ship systems to hide from sensors or local chat as you warp in so you can't find us easily

Why can't I do any of this when exploring in the game or going into dangerous areas for more supposedly profitable stuff? Oh wait, I can't, because there are gank groups on forums that seem to have taken to using the same cowardly tactics on forums that they do in the game which is to scream like chavs and gang up on small groups of people until they're forced to run away and hide in stations when they realise they're outmatched because they don't want to be challenged in the game.
