Alternate Ransom Payments

We've all been ransomed or have ransomed before, but are there pirates out there that will accept things other than raw ISK? If you have a story involving... odd... ransom payments, let's hear 'em!

I'll start:

So there I was, months ago, poking around in low-sec space, trying to take a shortcut to move some stuff. It was late at night, and I probably shouldn't playing in my drowsy state.

As could be predicted, I got caught. It was only a Mammoth with a half-ass tank fit, so I wasn't that depressed, and my cargo was mostly a collection of junk modules. Before I dipped into structure he stopped and asked what my stuff was worth to me.

As I had pretty much nothing to lose, I jettisoned 130 exotic dancers I had collected in missions, "But, sir! Surely I can interest you to take pleasure in my space Harem! These ladies are but a taste of the pleasures on the other side on my journey, should you wish to escort me...

He accepted this as payment and escorted me for the rest of my shortcut. I now carry exotic dancers on all my foolish cargo runs in low-sec Big smile.

I was doing a level 1 mission as a newbie in low sec and got Busted. He wanted 20 mil, I said I did not have it. I had to tell a joke in local to get out. Did the joke one of the corniest I knew he laughed and I got out.

I expect to get this post deleted or locked. So much for freedom of expression.

During Incursion Grief I (This current one being II), Skunks almost every time offered to let players eject from their ships in exchange for their shiny mods back. You wouldn't think this would work, but we got several Machs and a couple Nightmares, as well as a Loki and a couple other really nice space boats.

Someone also contracted us a Navy Apoc as a ransom.

We used those boats to look like an even more legit incursion fleet and be even more convincing when griefing incursions.

Nice missing of the point NPC nooblet.

Sounds to me the greifers are making bank and potentially more than the high sec carebears.

But your likely too dense to pick up on that now arent you. :)

It's my way of saluteing their subtle profteering.

It's true we made very fat bank for about two weeks there, but it really is feast or famine.

Like, for instance, the other day I got 600m by safariing into a corp, getting the dudes to haul two empty freight containers for collateral and popping the freighter and collecting the collateral.

On the other hand, for several weeks before that I got nothing and was sharpening sticks on rocks to stab people with.

I recall reading a blog some time ago where the piwate would offer the victim the opportunity to impress him with a haiku.

I had to chuckle at the thought of how many would be thinking 'WTF' while they rapidly looked haiku up in google ... and then replied something along the lines of "just shoot me".

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

I ransomed a PI crane I caught at a CO for a picture of a tasty pie since it was obvious they were new to the game and possibly it was their first low sec venturing.

Taught them to d-scan and assess a systems activity so they don't get caught so easily next time.

Whenever we wardec someone, our standard ransom is 250 Ibises and 250 Velators ( or 500 of each if it's an alliance)

Weirdly, only two of our targets have ever attempted to fulfil this demand.

If people did not have the money to pay ransom, we would ask them to eject from their ship. You wouldn't believe how many people actually do this in lieu of being popped and podded.

My best haul was making a guy eject from a faction fit Navy raven. he did not want the loss on his corps kill-board. Lol

Ahh I miss pirating now...if only i could find a good pirate corp...

One day I had a little too much to drink and was too lazy to cook myself dinner. So a corpie (who iust so happens to be an IRL friend) was mining and using his Orca. I got into my cane, tackled him and got him into structure. Stopped firing and ransomed him for an extra large pizza. I refused to let him go until the pizza was delivered to my door already paid...

Moral of the story, never ransom someone who can punch you the next day...

My corp has had ransoms (we never pay) that are obviously obscure, but nothing like that... I think most people think you're just joking, but I like it, and encourage you to continue your good work Lol.

In other news, my friend was just caught mining in his back-end low sec system. His ransom? Sing Lady Gaga over their voice comms. Brilliant.

We've never had someone complete the ransom, they just get tired and give us ISK or killmails.

I think the highest they've gone is like, 180 velators and 50 ibises.

Couple summers ago I flew withth the black rabbits. One night after scoring a decent ransom DeathFangs I believe it was told me they had this Guy make a banjo out of random **** laying around the house and post the picture to photobucket or similar site. I kinda laughed it off until the picture was produced. . About pissed myself . Good times.

If Goons were around when God said, "Let there be light" they'd have called the light gay, and plunged the universe back into darkness by squatting their nutsacks over it.
