...because linking them all to that bar on the left is mighty annoying (I might, of course, have missed the ability to turn this off...)

If you open your journal, and click the minimise button, it no longer goes to the bottom of the screen like it used to. It now disappeares and can only be accessed again by clicking on the button on the left hand bar. Mucho annoying

It's just a thing of convenience. If you hit the Journal button on the left the Journal will open. If you hit the button again it will not close but minimize the journal (the button will get shiny). If you hit the button once again it will pop up faster this time because its just maximizing the window.
If you ask me pretty neat to have only button instead of the hundreds of bars at the bottom.

I prefer the new way.

However, I often double click the very top of a window to "minimize in-line". That's the best way I can describe it. Here's a screenie of what I mean.

Give it a go! It's mighty useful :)

Hmm, seems that it's just me that finds this new system annoying. I used to love having everything along the bottom of the screen, ready to pop out when needed (Contracts, wallet, market, etc), but now it's all along the left hand bar (and therefore I must trundle my cursor over a further distance)

Sad gorki :(

In the latest neocom-related devblog it says they will hopefully allow you to move the neocom to he bottom at some point - that might help :)

Wow this is utter garbage. Any way to change it back? The whole blink thing now sits right in your face, instead of an unobtrusive little mouse peeping away in the bottom of the screen.

FIVE YEARS OF BEING USED TO MINIMIZE WINDOWS AND THEN CLICKING ON THE 'TASKBAR', A LA PRETTY MUCH EVERY OS IN THE WORLD

FIVE YEARS OF WASTED TIME

*phew*

Seriously though, the actions of minimizing/clicking from the bottom are so ingrained now they are automatic, and this new change is extremely painful.

I want the old way back, opening windows now clutters up your Neocom with more windows that are nameless but have an icon. That's dumb.

Need stuff moved? Push Industries will handle it. Serving highsec, lowsec and nullsec - and we do it faster and more reliably than anyone else. Ingame channel: PUSHX

Preferred the old way simply because minimizing chat windows used to be useful, now if I'm "lucky" I get this useless mess: http://piclair.com/data/yexkt.jpg

but usually I get this: http://piclair.com/data/yhzxm.jpg

Didn't want to access those chat windows anyways I guess...

The entire neocom stinks of :awesome:, they added stuff just for the sake of adding them like the hierarchical menus in the "eve-menu", if a UI designer tries to convince anyone that they are a good idea in 2012 he'll get fired (outside the world of software development for professionals).

And why are the ships and items icons stuck next to the ******* undock button? Who thought that was a good idea?

You know you can invite multiple people to a single chat channel, and you don't have to chat to them all individually?

It's not always a good idea to talk to multiple people in the same channel, in each other's presence :) ^^

New neocom didn't offer me anything but annoying flashy chat button and 15 minutes of useless configuring.
It is bulljunk with too much useless multimedia. Rollback thank you.

Overall I like the new neocom, but I find the whole chat icon to be completely and utterly useless. I don't need it flashing there to see the numerous tabs flashing on various chat channels. An option to remove the icon from ever being visible would be nice, but I'd settle simply by not having it flash at any time when it's open and not minimized. Sure I could remove the blinking from everything, but that'd prevent me from seeing some of the things I want to see such as new EVE mails or changes in the wallet or whatever it is that I'd like to see at any given time. In short, give us a rmb mebu to disable flashing for any given icon in the neocom.

Horrible change.

All those in-your-face flashing icons every time you accept a mission instead of the old discreet high-lighted text labels.

And where are the text labels? I could recognise them much faster than trying to remember which icon is which.

I don't really like the new neo-com but Eugene Spencer's idea helped to make it less painful.
