DEVS! Do something before people start thinking Transit Spectroscopy is ****, because it's not!!!

In its present form, it is. An UI like they had in live will be helpful.

This is hilarious !

In fact I got many of those where the transit period is just a random pattern layout put out on top of the sample. Zooming in shows nothing but the UI presents a "missed" yellow transit. Transit Spectroscopy is an important discipline and CCP is just making it look like a bad joke.

My suggestion, fire that Dev and put a competent person on it.

You're overthinking it. I'm currently between lvl 31 and 32. Most samples are "no transit", most (I guess 3-5%) of the positive samples are super obvious, you can't miss them. Very rarely system will through you a sample that does have a transit but it takes some attention to find the pattern.

From what I understand, system sometimes throws in some random sample with incorrect evaluation or maybe a lot of people read it wrong. Don't worry about it too much - if you see the transit - mark it, if you don't - just go on. Again - 95% of samples are non-transit ones. Click through, once you're over level 10, statistics kicks in and you will get false positives one in 20-30 samples. When I started I've fot to 0,4% accuracy, LOL. Now I'm between 68-78%.

The process is quite grindy, it's more like a clicker really - once you get a hang of it you don't need detrend or fold. But it's quite satisfying to find a pattern in really noisy samples.

Don't give up - it get's simpler.

I really hope this is the case, but take a look at what me and the topic master has encountered. These sort of things aren't uncommon for me so there's obviously something broken.

I'm sorry, but that is absolute rubbish. Just for ***** and giggles I've gone through it on an account I don't use just hitting 'No Transit' on everything, and not a single one out of 250 attempts was correct. They all failed and showed some random selection of yellow dots that were indiscernible from the surrounding sample.

Hello darkness, my old friend.

"Again - 95% of samples are non-transit ones"

No way Jose : if you hit "No Transit" every time you get almost zero % accuracy. That means that if you are right and excluding the Consensus safety net you should go up, but in reality you get penalized 95% every single time you hit that No Transit.

On 100 samples I get at best 5 obvious ones and the rest is un-doable ! Hitting No Transit is the only option, so.... WTF non-sense is all this !?

If that account has just completed it's tutorial, the first 5 samples are "Evaluation" samples that you have to come out correct once for each 5 categories of the evaluation before you get to work on actual samples.
The 5th sample is super hard and there was an announcement that is going to be fixed.

The issue here is not that, but rather that in the actual samples (not evaluation) we get ones that are obviously not flagged properly.

I've literally stopped caring. I was careful and doing my best and had a 95% accuracy until they did whatever they did yesterday and now I get 2-4 hard in a row and have spiraled back down to 50% while still putting in effort. Since it's obvious it no longer matters what I do as far as my accuracy goes I'm just clicking no transit unless it's something obvious. I was a doctoral candidate that did a lot of work in statistics and population modelling. their gold standard graphs are garbage, or to be more precise, if there is something there you have to use analysis to see it, not eyeballing.

Agree, note that people who play this are often engineers or scientists. This exoplanet implementation is total bollocks, just good for the grind, I'll do it up to the CONCORD coat and then "hasta la vista" !

It might have been, I notice there are some hard to see dips where it says their is a transit even with detrend off. I would be *very* curious what the results look like folded. Suspect the transit is visible there. I've had some that were practically impossible to see in the regular graph, even with detrend on, but after clicking the yellow diamond to see the results folded I was able to see the dip confirming it was a real transit.

That being said I have had way more instances where they say there was a transit and I've looked at the results folded with all the different detrend options and there was absolutely *no* dip visible. Those are total BS.

I thought that this might be cool, so I started the tutorial.

I kept failing, and couldn't get past 4/10.

Very poor instructions for such an endeavor.

Anyone else now getting more evaluation graphs than not? I'm now getting 6-7 in a row followed by maybe 3 that aren't evaluated.

Not sure but might have something to do with your accuracy. When it falls you get more evaluation graphs. They don't want people spamming "no transit" handling the actual samples.

They don't give enough points for one. I'm at 69% accuracy again after spending the first day at 4% because of the glitch. But I only get 60 points per slide. Not 69, and the levels need way more points. L

To be fair most of the graphs are no transit. Not every star has something passing in front of it.
There's lots of consenus ones that just have transits marked everywhere already. There's nothing there everyone is just marking stuff cause the first day threw everyone off with the hundreds of falsely marked graphs that were all no transit.
