Punisher, OP ?

Anybody else think this ship could do with a little haircut ?

I mean:

5 frikkin lows

4 gun Highs

2 Meds (ok, but who needs a web with lasers?)

I can easliy fit 2 heatsinks, 2 adaptive nanos, and a repper.

So Im tanking very well, as well as dealing an ammount of damage that every of my other potential brawly/semi-kitey t1 frigate opponents would have to sacrifice over, I get all the cards while they're stuck having to make choices.

And not to mention the dualplated version...

Just my two cents, for what its worth.

Do you see ravaging hordes of punishers anywhere but on the blood raider sotiyo?

No.

They're not a remarkable ship, insofar as their killboard stats. They have counters like every other ship. True of any FOTM ship, if they were OP for any reason, you'd see them used to dominate more. Their stats are middle-of-the-road.

So you lost a meh-fit incursus to an AB/scram/pulse punisher and therefore the punisher is OP?

You probably would have won that fight with an AB fit.

"meh-fit" my arse.

Aside from killboards theres not that much indication that its an ab or mwd fit punisher now is there, in a blaster incursus ?

So I fit a mwd just in case because I can still "attempt" at remaining in my optimal using FedAnti, or null with it.

But the issue here is simply this, unless I get to use void with ab (and pray to god he's ab fit as well), punisher will still outrep/tank +outdps me, thanks to an absurd low and highslot count.

Amarr ships simply have it way too easy to both kite and brawl in the same fit, while everyone else have to have either specific kiting or brawling guns/ammo fits, or be shafted with dps if wanting to do both, ie like with Rails..

It's ******* dumb.

And for that matter you could also throw in a fight between a Coercer and Thrasher for the fun, the Coercer sitting comfortably at 25k in site and you are with an mwd fit, autocannons Thrasher, armorplates(trimark rigs) and dcu (or small ancillary).

There is no way in hell you could ever catch to him in time to grill out his ****** tank (or ever catch even if hes a smart pilot and/or has snakes and overheats his mwd in time), the dps would melt you before you get there (god forbid he doesnt have dps implants too...), and he would just quickly switch to brawly lasers and melt your sorry butt once there.

Consider taking a Talwar to it? That ship has such ****** powergrid your only option would be try and speedtank it, but even then, you would melt faster than he would, with our dps issue again...

So bottom line, yea...this will likely never get a fix as too much part of the game for so long, but hey, at least it shows who the real cunts in the game are according to the ships they like to use and defend on the forums.

I don't think I've ever flown a punisher.

I'm defending it because I think you're just a ****** pilot who lost a fight and cannot think of a suitable counter. Then you blame your lack of imagination and/or lack of skill on a ship being too OP.

Pilots lose fights all the time. Going to the F&I forum to ***** about it after will not get you the sympathy you seek, unless you're actually right. Start in the warfare thread, ask for help.

It's a T1 frigate. It has many counters, even among other T1 non-faction frigates.

If by other counter you mean having to use another hull, yea, oook pal ...

Fly some, come up with a counter with a specfic ship, be my guest, then come back, before assuming ****.

Hell, even be my guest to make an autocannon thrasher fit work any way your wild imagination* can against a coercer, im all ears...should be interesting..

*(and i am pretty sure I would far trump over you on that matter if your goal was to turn this into real life competition bait statement ? But still besides the point, I guess...)

It is a meh-fit though. It's not the worst, but it's not the best, either. I'm sure it's reasonably strong against full-range kiters, but it's destined to die against most any AB-fit scram-kiter, as your no-prop velocity is still lower than their webbed velocity, particularly given that they can still heat, and you can't, and hell - other AB-scram fits could still have a web on top.

A comparably fit breacher, tristan, tormentor, kestrel, merlin, etc. would all have wrecked you just the same. It's an extremely likely outcome whenever an MWD-brawler meets an AB brawler. The AB brawler is far more easily kited at disruptor range, and in return, it's far more capable in scram range. Them's the breaks.

PS: The punisher responsible for extracting this salt was recently killed, just today, by an Eve-uni guy flying...

...an Incursus.

Yes, I mean another hull. No single ship in the game can kill every other ship in the game. There will be fights that you should never be able to win, and that is by design.

Everything else has already been said by SurrenderMonkey, so I won't bother to repeat it.

TBH, I wouldn't even call the counter "another hull" in this case. The incursus is quite good, and I'd rate it solidly above the punisher. Of the Amarr frigates, IMO, the tormentor is actually significantly scarier than the Punisher. The latter is decent in its own right, but I'd call it middle-of-the-pack.

It just so happens that, as fit, the AB-scram-kiting punisher in question had a very strong position over the MWD-blaster incursus in question, thanks to far superior damage projection and superior scram-range mobility.

An AB-scram-web fit incursus can, in fact, get under the guns of an AB-pulse punisher, at least to a degree adequate to mitigate some of the damage, while still dealing peak damage itself.
