Two suggestions to spice things up

Hey folks,

Going to risk the gauntlet of GD and try to suggest an idea or two I've been thinking about, so they can be mulled over by the good folks on here. No worries about comments, not sensitive here, just having a go at giving some input to be pushed around the table.

Obviously, if any of these ideas had any potential to be acceptable, then they would need some refining to say the least...just ball-park ideas.

OK, basically these two would spice things up pretty much everywhere but especially in high sec without disrupting things too much as they are.

1. Introduce the option to convert ISK into cash that players would then have to carry around in their ships, as it could bring about more risks and rewards content/decisions etc. Now, for example, here's how I think it could work:

Offer the service at NPC stations (or wherever) > player wants to convert say 100k ISK to cash > gets taxed 5% > then recieves 95k ISK in cash

This would then be termed 'red' cash

Players that sell items on the market could be given the opinion of giving a discounted price of say 10% for cash with some small (say 1-2%) latitude on either side depending on the market conditions and location.

So, then a player buys a 100k item for 90k, thus benefiting from the 5% extra discount for paying cash, so it is helpful/profitable, but risky, to carry the cash. Make it so that if you get ganked then it drops like everything else does.

Once the seller receives cash ISK for a transaction then it becomes 'green' ISK and can be banked back to their normal ISK bank at face value plus say 12-13% so that it is in their interest to offer the option.

I think it would spice things up everywhere and introduce some more options on the risk/reward from for all everywhere.

All ideas and comment welcome as if I remember someone saying there used to be cash is a long time ago. This would benefit both sellers and buyers plus spice things up as the cash would have to be carried in ships.

2. This one is regarding an effort to spice up mining in high sec a bit,

How about introducing a new ore in high sec (in 0.5-0.6 only) that is reasonably profitable but has drawback going after it?

For example, this new ore can only be detected by using a special medium module that is expensive and only available to barges and exhumers, with the drawback that it screws with your fitting/cap/power or something so you can't tank your skiff or proc into a level where it's not worth attacking. Could even make it so that you can only fit this one mod on a miner plus the mining lasers. Maybe make it as good as Jaspet or something.

Make it a risk vs reward thing again so that you can choose to go after the normal stuff or take a risk and go after more rewarding stuff but at sufficient risk.

Hmm i donated 5 minutes of my lifetime to think about if this is utter nonsense or maybe some hidden genius thing only the smartest ones among us can grasp.

.. then i found its total bullshit. at least the "cash" thing. The other idea is just meh, next!.

Hi, it's good to see players thinking about different ways to add more content to the game, you're definitely thinking outside the box.

As for the cash thing, what I've noticed in my 9 years of playing this game is that players don't like to lose CASH, ISK or PLEX, I don't think creating new code for that is going to bring in players and more than likely the playerbase won't engage in that content.

Your idea about the mining one definitely has some merit but needs more refinement, also needs to be applied so all characters, new and old, Alpha and Omega, can engage in that content.

Anyway, keep thinking about Eve, nothing wrong with throwing ideas out there. Just FYI, these forums are going to be shut down rather soon due to the new forums being recently activated here - https://meta.eveonline.com/

Bro, thanx for actually spending the time and sharing, how anyone can criticize those two facts are beyond my understanding. I like the cash concept. Another thing I am thinking about is what if you could actually capture podded capsuleers after you destroyed their ships,and imprison them for a limited amount of time (hours to days according to your imprison skills", and then the options are for example: pay a ransom, or get killed and loose a real amount of ISK/Assets/skills when you die. Of for example if you have equipped your Capsuleer with a poison fake tooth you can suicide and only loose half or something like that. I think this would add some awesome new interactions and dynamics to the game.
Especially when you capture high executives from companies/alliances, the prices and losses go really up, and the members should count and see what is the best option: pay from the companies/alliance resources, or for example would it be better to let that person die / suicide and accept the loss of skills/ISK/Assets etcetera?

^ As with my idea about cash, your idea about ransoms etc. would be consistent with the real world and in theory consistent with a sandbox where everything goes.

I could easily carry cash through high and low sec in a luxury yacht or Viator (which can't be scanned)....if the rewards were right then hell yeah.

It would be funny to see corps pay ransoms for their corp CEO's clone that has however much ISK invested in implants etc...haha, not to mention the reputation fail of it all. But then, the corp could also take a stand and say 'no' too in an act of defiance. Lol

Ok fine since nobody else noticed i'll throw this in.

If your idea ever comes to pass (which it won't) i will use your 5% tax on converting ISK to CASH, then convert it right back to ISK for the extra 13%. Free money forever, cheers.

Your other idea encourages people to not log in (because prisoner) and as such will not happen.

Nice work tho, keep em coming.

No, they will log in, because the state of being prisoner has a limited amount of time, (read few minutes to hours) before the prisoner will have had made a deal, be killed or commit suicide, or have been rescued! By not logging in he will be killed and lose often the most....

Anyway, one of my dreams of more specialized (inter)action on EVE, with even the incentive for massive rescue operation battles to get some more PvP going.....
