Is it just me or is the Tengu loosing its place as one of the solo PVE ships of choice for wh, lo and nul? I was trying to set it up using the new design and I can't find ways to shield tank like before, while maintaining enough power grid for missiles. Also, the lows seem fairly anemic for any kind of armor tanking, no matter how you lay it out. I did not by any means consider it overpowered before the changes.

I trained for the Tengu for ratting and data/relic exploration in Wh and nul. Now that every new player seems to be doing this, the payouts aren't worth it, so I am more likely going to be hunting exploration hunters (ambush), and running escalations. I am also trained for the Purifier, Rook (which would be great for this but bad DPS with my skills) , Barghest, Orthrus, Garmur, and SOE ships. The reason why I can't use the Stratios for this (which would be perfect) is that for weapons, I literally only have missile skills. The Falcon is another ship that I can fly but haven't considered it for these uses yet. I think I can fly the Scorpion too.

My whole focus was on the Tengu for this, but I can't seem to find any fit that will make it acceptable for this. I am not good at PVP yet and so far am only able to survive fights when I can get all my shield resists in the 70s, with a shield booster to boot.

Some very weak points about the new Tengu design:

-No drone option! Previously, I would use drones for either added DPS, distractions, or often webbing/neuting
-Powergrid options are no good. The amount of mids we can get are ridiculous but generally many would sit empty due to lack of power.
-No good missile fits available for solo'ing -Can be a useable missile boat for gank or fleet but there are many way better choices.

Now I am a basically brand new player, so take what I say with a grain of salt. But I cannot see where there is focus or direction in the design of this ship. It is not a generalist by any means now. But I am not sure what it actually specializes in either. It seems to be just a mismash of patch jobs now. Any input on this from CCP or players would be very well received, as I have invested a lot into this!

With the T3 cruiser changes, I don't see myself using the Tengu for my initial intended purpose anymore. So my question is this:

Since I have already invested heavily in this ship skill wise, what SHOULD I be using the Tengu for once these changes take affect? I do see gank potential with many Tengu's on the field as one strong option for this ship, but this was not exactly the style of play I was aiming for. That being said, I am not closed to it -this is a game afterall and if we can find something fun to do...

I don't understand what are you whining about. Tengu became even better. With little bit less damage for PVE (1006 dps on Sisi vs 1040 on tranquility now) it tanks way better. On tranquility current fit for Guristas 10/10 is

It's a bit overkill, and it does 1044 DPS with implants and skills at lvl5. I am using it with T2 BCU and without implants.

New fit is with Large booster, more tank and same DPS. And also a massive bonus, you can use normal cloack, cause you have free hi slot. So I can only thank CCP for such a change !

m8, Tengu requires all skills to Lvl 5 (including specialisation) and implants, if you want it to shine. Then this ship is a beast. For Sansha I guess it is the wrong ship, because it is not meant to do EM damage.
