Hello

As a pirate person I have noticed as have many how terrible the bounty system is, occasionally I get a large enough bounty have to jump to an empty clone to pod myself and collect it. SOOOO it lets other people give you isk ? kind of the opposite of what its meant to do!

My idea then to fix this issue; when a bounty is placed on someone it is placed on there assets. So if you shoot the dude and destroy whatever he is in rifter, pod ect you get that amount of isk or a ratio of it as long as there is still bounty left on his head.

This would stop people killing themselves with alts to get the bounty. Also getting bounty for killing pirates assets would make pirate hunting a more valid, profitable and fun exercise.

Isn't the same problem still present? If the bounty is too big then the pirate (or his corp mate) will just shoot his on assets?

EDIT:

Or do you mean that you get a fraction of the market cost of their assets (in order to keep them from making cash by destroying their own stuff). For example, if they have a tech II frigate, then the person shooting will get 25% of the estimated value (or insurance value) of that frigate?

This has the potential to make bounty hunting and pirate hunting more profitable. I like it.

Yes thats the idea it could be a ratio so there is no profit to shooting your corp mate or yourself with an alt

Sounds like a great idea, however, you'd have to factor in insurance...

So you'd be looking at it like this:

(Cost of destroyed equipment) - (Insurance) = Bounty for that individual kill (up to the total bounty).

Obviously, podkills would be potentially worth more with this system because of the fact that you can't insure implants.

I can only think of one way to exploit this, and that is if you have a large bounty, and you're in a WH with a ship you can't leave on, you could have someone destroy it, rather than try to sell it.
