Seriously CCP, you need to put in some mechanism that discourages _people_ from _just warping in at the end_ and _killing the boss to get all the loot_.

Hey, that sounds like the "CCP, you need to put in some mechanic that discourages the 1%ers from having low or zero risk and getting phat lewt."
There is a lot of posts that are the same. I think this is a realistic game, just like in RL the good honest people have to work hard so the bad dishonest pigs can buy another jet to sip champagne in. If I were a pig, I'd get my shiny curly tailed behind into the CSM to make sure the good honest hard working players don't mislead CCP into nerfing certain things.

Nice stealth campaigning for the next CSM +1

Nah. The real scumbags are the people like me who will link you the items looted so that you can know what it is you missed out on. Sometime i exagerate, and link a Nyx skin when I shouldn't, but, some people don't seem to like that at all...

You can always ask what you did wrong after getting loot stolen/ losing the engagement after shooting the thief. Most of the time pvp'ers will teach others how to get better (tougher targets- better content).

Well I had a plan. To go at it slightly differently and a bit of a white knight but an evil bastard one.

Take your veteran T3, preferably with a cloak, find the names of people complaining in local and ask them through pms for player name and ship type, then adjust your own ship accordingly. You know that this person will lose sites so ask them to team up with you. Let them run the content and sit cloaked right by the gate ready to pounce on the unsuspecting. The thief rolls in ready to steal at a moments notice, u see ship and probable fit, wait, then when your new bro best bud says last spawn you activate gate and warp in knowing the thief will likely steal said loot either way. And if you time it right you simply land, scram and go to town on the thief.

I like picking on the people that pick on people for some reason. Oh and the salt is WAAAAY better when they are "leet" pvpers and you are a scrub "minah!!"

No finer or juicier salt in the world!!Twisted

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

Most of the time in HS the peole getting ninja'd does not understand this is a race.

A race where only the last second matters (the player who gets the last hit gets the reward) and the most effective strategy is to let others do the work of grinding through the rats and then steal their reward. (Warp between occupied sites in a fast arty ship and get the last hit on bosses.)

So hardcore. Much skill. Very 1337.

Its an event designed for griefers and lazy players.

You shouldn't let it.

Adapt and overcome, or just let it go and don't bother with it in some cases.

For this drone event, newer players could group up and run sites together. Put afterburners on frigates. Be fast and nimble and look into the game mechanics involved. Chances are one of you will survive and get away with the loot. One site's loot might buy a few fitted frigates with plenty left over...

This game can be a lot of fun, or horribly ragequit-induccing.

Really, it's up to you.

Sensor boosted, alpha strike, hyperspatial rigged ships have close to 0 combat ability and you both gonna be 2 km from the can, trying to loot it. Well into scram and web range, too close for an arty ship to be.

You are seeing here only the tip of the Iceberg of this game. You must adapt, improvise, find solutions, think, plan, act. This game is War and in wars you must learn when to run, when to hide, when to observe, when to spy and when to strike. If your experience is still low and SP below 1 year you are a prey and you must learn to hide, observe and run. Later you will learn how to chase others and even better chase and kill the opportunists who chase the weak. This is the greatest fun.

Ex. Team up with a experienced player who waits until the intruder steals your loot (its yellow for him) he becomes suspect when opening it, then your friend can warp in and engage and kill him without concord interfering.

Stick around and learn ! In time you will get more confident, understand the game mechanics, then bate the greedy and kill them.

Got anything at all to contribute besides declaring your superiority? (kind of ironic considering what you said, but w/e)

1) Get a decent ship to do the job, so you kill the drones quickly AND you discourage people to steal your loot (I use a Gila)
2) Watch the Local: if there's more than 20 pilots, you know there's gonna be competition...
3) Try to do the event at off-peak hours (and avoid weekend...)
4) Don't get mad if you get ninja'd or killed and try to come with a better plan

Enjoy the game Blink

Are you a Goon?
Maybe they should drop in a 20k m3 container and flag everyone who warps in so you need to control grid to get the loot.

HTFU - get at 0 and scoop faster. They take your loot? Kill them for it.

If you're in high-sec, find quieter areas. You can even let someone steal it and then engage them after if you're fit proper. If you are in high-sec, but want it much easier on yourself, find an entrance and go to null. You'll rarely see a soul depending on how far you wanna travel.

Everyone has been wonderfully polite these last 3 days. Probably a result of the fall in accelerator prices and people now wondering what to do with their skins.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Tractor Beam - I called it "my anti-theft device" in the context of the event. :D Once I started using it, my success rate in contests skyrocketed (but soon after I realised that the event was keeping me away from far more lucrative activities, lol-sigh - got to enjoy my effective trick for all of about a day...)

Alternatively, if someone is about to steal your loot - blow up the wreck! ;)
