I've been addicted to EVE since 2012 even though I've never even started playing EVE until mid 2016

How does that work? Smile You followed the game actively for four years and only then started playing?

I started with Dust 514 back in 2012, fully delving into the EVE universe.

Dust was as EVE a game as any other and like EVE it had a uniqueness to it not found in any other FPS of that era and it kept drawing me back to it. When I came back I didn't just feel like I was coming back from a break or anything, I felt as if I was coming back to one big space family, that shot at me, and sometimes with me.

After Dust ended on May 30, 2016, I migrated to EVE Online, and though it took me some trials, I finally plexed out my 21 day trial account and started my own corporation which was mildly successful and grew to around 40 people, we had also joined an alliance. That's when I stepped down from CEO and took another 3-4 month break for real life reasons. I came back around a month ago. Big smile

I first came to New Eden back in 2007, I believe, and I have left and come back numerous times. I've recently come back, yet again, but it's like a breath of fresh air. I've started up a new character and I'm ready to explore the game all over again! I never got very far with my first character anyway, so I'm basically a Veteran Noob, if there could be such a thing! I'm really enjoying the new player experience so far, definitely one of the best improvements that I've noticed so far. Now, if I could just get my flat screen TV to display at a high resolution and not make me feel like a need binoculars to read text on the screen, even with the UI scaled to 125%, I'd be golden. Oh, and find an Amarr corporation.

I've been playing even since january 2017, because i only just got a job to support subscription/omega lol. I've been having fun so far, haven't done much PVP, cant afford it yet. Stared at rocks in space for hundreds of hours, always fun (lol not really, but can be profitable if compressing) been having fun, only mining right now because i just moved so lost my combat ships :/ Once i get the ISK ill be hopefully doing more pvp ;)

Wish i could change my toons name though haha.

I have no idea what keeps bringing me back since 2014. Maybe it's the fascination with being hunted like a wild gazelle strolling through the open plains while knowing danger lurks around any corner. Adrenaline is a crazy thing!

This is one of the best descriptions I have seen of Eve in a while.Twisted

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

I would love to see some scalable UI stuff available for people, 3rd party stuff, to add different UI packages to the client as a sort of mod. All within the rules of EULA mind you, so right there with you on this one.

Agreed, if I had one problem with the game, as it stands, it would be that, allowing simple UI mods would be fabulous. The thing that's a little strange is that the UI already has scroll bars, so why can't the text simply increase with size and scroll bars come into play dynamically like any windows program? I've researched this a little bit and I know it has been a requested feature since I started playing. I read CCP's response to the increased font size requests, and it strikes me as a little strange (lazy?) to not allow for increased font sizes to protect the longevity of the client. Baffles me.

But truly, besides that, I'm having a blast and it's like I've come home.

You know, it seems to be a much "darker and cold" period of time back when the game was fairly fresh. Ginger Magician acting a fool, Tiller, Miz and the Goons were just started and failing their way to the top, Pedo Bear threads, Jade Constantine was working in a whore house, couldn't miss Lady Scarlet, Losing a Titan was a big deal....Shrike...we discussed this a the BBQ!!!

Losing BS5 twice and due to drinking games on SLosh Ops.

Learning skills that was akin to driving a 16 penny nail through the head of your dingus. (leveled them all to 5....)

10 mil for a Cruiser might as well have been a billion. And when you found an Arbulest HVY Missile launcher... you were rich.

Miss the older days. It was a bit colder, darker and had a certain kind of bite. that actually left marks.

(EDIT: just realized May 5 was my 12th year.)

By the way, has anyone been playing continuously since 2003, or even somewhere around that time? If yes, they must have accumulated a pretty amazing amount of wealth, skill points, ships, BPOs and assets in general all over the universe?

Not quite 2003, i started officially March 17th 2004 (was one of the Earth and Beyond Refugees) This acocunt was started April 1st 2004. I have maybe had 1 or 2 days lapse on game time (as in total, like a prolly missed a few hours here or there due to an expired CC) I have taken a break (took 1 month off for a honeymoon in 2006, and about 1 year off in 2011 when my son was born) but the account kept going.

why the history lesson? Well i have a total of around 180m SP's. Which is low for a player fo my age. Mainly because i don;t use implant son this acocunt (i die to much)

My current isk is only about 1.7b, and that due to my play style (i find making sure other sin my corp or alliance have fun is more worth while them me hording isk)

So no, not all old timers have massive ammount of wealth of skill points.

I really need to do an AMA.. sigh, oh well

At the very least, you should post in the "How did you Veterans start?" thread if you haven't already.

It's a good read and the new players seem to enjoy it.
