If he is what you say, you should have more discipline as a "sane" person, wake up to yourself.

Local, 100's ppl tagged in mails isn't exactly private mail either. Holey's a complete tool. Guess i was pretty close to one just there though Ugh I really don't understand how holey hasn't been permagagged yet, with all the **** he spews.

So I see you fine gents just got yourselves a topic locked about this person earlier.

I for one try how to avoid sermonizing to grown men about how they decide to play their fake spaceship game.

But I feel like every single person that is participating in a "Holey" thread has to know that they're skirting the line on that whole "personal attacks" area.

Don't get me wrong. It isn't like I don't know that EvE players love to skirt the line. They love to know exactly where the bannable infraction is, so that they can rub their balls right up against it.

And yeah, I know. The "other person" always starts it first.

But it's the height of stupidity to cry foul when you break the rules and get nailed for it. If you like, you can think of it as a new sort of meta-game. Pretend your online opponent is trying to get you to act foolishly, by acting foolishly himself.


But Im tellin ya, fellah. Pursuing this silly "Holey" thing you're pushing here can not end well, and your counter-arguments won't trump CCPs ban.

I disagree.

I am what you call and ethical relativist. In that, I think that right and wrong vary from place to place and time to time.

While what you are saying would be, I think, generally true is some areas of the forums, I think here it doesn't quite apply.

You see, this is C&P and our standards of decorum are different than would be found in different parts of the game. To me, we have a higher and more sophisticated standard of behavior.

I think all parties involved would define these interactions as "content" instead of "personal attacks".

Holey PVPs in ships, text, and teamsprak. I love it and regret his banning... but I'll take the bait for a fight every time. Just like in-game, I select my side of each of these arguments based on who I want to fight. It's never a personal attack, but rather a tactical engagement shaped for my entertainment.


To eliminate this banter would be to torpedo the very opera the builders of Eve set out to create. It's not just ships, we PvP in so many ways.

If you saw a quarter of the mails i've received from Holey you would retract the "Personal Attacks" reference, whats said here is very light compared to his mails.

I'm surprised the amount of petitions against this guy hasn't crashed CCP's servers.

I find myself in the minority again. The more his name gets dragged through the mud the more I like him.

Yeah, he's a flare for the dramatic.

But, he's solo fighting all of you guys, can't even talk back on the forums, and you guys are still running him down.

I'm not as skilled in drama as he is, but to solo against you guys (yeah, ***** about his station games but those are extremely technical... and you know it) and have any level of success is impressive.

I consider myself pretty skilled, but to station game against a major merc outfit is a challenge level I don't want.

The more you run his name down in his absence, the more I root for him.

You all know damn well I'm no alt.

Oh I concur. He gives as good as he gets (and judging by some of his emails, much better). He's gotten a rise out of me on more that one occasion but I'm wise to it now. He knows I like him, I tell him regularly... can't say that's true in the other direction but hey.

He's been posting insufferable "comeback" threads on the EVE subreddit. Since apparently he cannot post here himself, he's asked us to forward y'all a notice of his imminent departure from the game (along with an incredible amount of armchair pop psychology). From reading this thread seems like that wasn't necessary though.
