I have several billion isk in corporate assets stuck in null sec outposts that are impounded due to office rent lapsing. What will be the fate of these assets once CCP converts the structure to a Citadel and it is killed?

Good question!

You might want to post this in the latest structure transition thread as well, and I can't recall if there's been a dev blog on that part of the structure swap but that would be a good place as well.

They will be transferred to asset safety and you can get your stuff back delivered to a nearby lowsec station for a fee (15% iirc).

I don't entirely understand, does this upcoming structure transition affect hisec as well, and does this mean that the towers and structures my corp has bought and launched will be wasted?
sorry, not sure if this is the right place to ask.

Outposts are stations in nullsec, not to be confused with starbases (aka POS). However the time is ticking for starbases too, they will be removed from the game eventually, and will lose their bonuses throughout the next months. I would recommend reading the devblogs about the step-wise transition to Upwell structures.

2 items to consider:

1:) Its pixels man
2:) You don't own anything - you just rent the experience.

Pure speculation but I would assume that they would get moved by asset safety but you would still have to pay the amount that is owed now. So if you owe more than the % fee would be if it was under normal asset safety without the items being already impounded you would still owe that amount to release the impound. Plus the fee for getting them moved.

Interesting question though, I wouldn't mind knowing for sure what the outcome would be in that situation.

It's also the player's time and effort as well as the money spent in subscribing. So the player does have an interest in safeguarding their property.

Yes it is pixels in space but to write it off as if it had no value is facile.

But in contrast to the new structures, POSes can be taken down without loss easily.

Please ask in the designated thread, you would have a better chance of a DEV answering over there. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=516650&find=unread
