Alpha Vets, what would it take.....

....to get you to re-sub? If your like me and have played EVE on and off for years but something is holding you back...maybe you don't like recent changes. Maybe your waiting on your favorite ship to be re-balanced. Old game mechanics that you feel needs a re-work?

For me, aside from real life keeping me busy, the biggest thing keeping me from returning is the New Camera changes. Specifically, The lack of custom tracking position. This alone has ruined my situational awareness since I can no longer click on a target from the overview and have the camera pan around to my target to a custom location. Instead, the target is always placed center screen, blocked from view by my ship. If this one feature were added I would re-sub 2 accounts.

So what's your story? What would bring you back to EVE?

Maybe it's just me, but I'd guess asking people who'd quit if they're coming back would be a pointless question.

What I mean is, they quit, right? So why would they be reading this forum. And if they are reading this forum but not playing the game, they haven't really quit, have they? They're just taking a break.

You'd think, but yet I've run into a surprising number of people who fit into exactly the bucket the OP is addressing and claim to have no plans to ever return... Lol

Well... he's asking about alpha vets.

Those who subbed in the past, came back with Alpha clones but have not gone omega again.

It took less than a week for me to resub when I was in that boat... because I wanted to pilot my cool ships again. I guess I'm an easy sale.

A huge addition to walking in stations, planets and ships. Hang out with your friends in different environments. Eve lacks immersion.

Good one, actually I'll change mine to this. To be able to play without random crashes and socket closures would be great. Used to run awesome on my computer.

It honestly took me finding the right corp, and a new mechanic I hadn't tried yet. I'm by no means a "vet" by experience, simply a "vet" by character age so it's not surprising I was able to find a niche.

That said, I think it really boils down to just flying with good people. I started out in 2012 in an almost exclusively drunk corporation. Did almost nothing except hi-sec mining/L4 mission running and salvage but we had the best time doing it because we just had fun. Everything almost always turned into a crap shoot but it was still some of the best times I've spent with the game.

Bottom line is, everyone has different play styles and everyone enjoys something different. Just gotta find your niche and enjoy the time you play. If you do that, it's worth the money.

I'm having some oddball issue with the GTX video cards (2 of them) and Windows 10 whereby without warning the system just reboots and it's related to the heat in the video cards. I lost Geckos to this.

In the beginning it was random and happened after a few days at a time, sometimes 1 week. After some big update last fall it happens within minutes of undocking every time. I last logged in as an alpha to move some stuff to give away and it was a race against time each attempt.

Researching this issue shows that the cards and Windows 10 conflict this way. Since I have too many other hats on these days it's on the back burner. Might replace the cards one of these days, or maybe the whole system. No time for games anyway. I can come in here and shitpoast randomly and that's about it.

I said I'd resub when all weapons have gotten rebalanced. 18 months later they announced they were working on this particular issue.
So we'll wait and we'll see what come out of it. Rebalancing all the weapons will probably mean another massive balancing pass for all those ships which are either worthless or OP. Anything that isn't OP borders on worthless, almost by definition. Don't envy them this task, that's for sure.

So I sit and I wait, maybe they do a good job and I return or maybe they blow it again like Ytterbiums pass at shield boosters and I move on with life.

The fact that it only costs $0.40 per day to play. Even if I only play a few hours/month it's worth it to sub.

I'm in that boat. For me what would need to happen is a shift of focus at CCP. For years they've been heavily focused on making nullsec alliances make the news. If they showed any signs that they were interested in the experience of the individual pilot that would get me interested. If they actually followed through, I'd be sold again. Now I just dabble on the forums and in help chats for a few minutes a day. There are more worthwhile experiences to be had elsewhere (e.g. going for a 30 minute walk outside is far more appealing lately than 30 minutes of being undocked.)

You got to wonder how did they get on top of that post and yes it just kills them when they fall off.

this is what happens in every game, everyone wants a certain armor set or weapons, with a game as customizable as eve and the no lifers out there can get into doing something will spend days fitting every module on every ship that can do a certain job in the attempt to max it out and then we share that fit and the rest of the galaxy gets that fit for that 1 ship to do 1 thing.

I myself aim still upset thanks to the tengu vs drake wars of tengus getting 100kms with heavy missiles, so instead of nerfing the bonuses on tengu, they nerf heavy missiles in general making an all tank drake ineffective if something goes out past 60km I think

Well, if CCP made some good addition to PvE I would feel inclined to try it to encourage the addition of more similar content. Also would work if CCP hired and introduced a new developer* tasked with adding new missions in each release in order to keep that content fresher.

*his/her name could be CCP LevelFour, or maybe CCP Damsel... Lol

My answer might seem odd but I feel like I had to give in,

What got me to play again is listening to the in-game music on SoundCloud. (https://soundcloud.com/ccpgames/sets/eve-online-in-game-tracks), All I do at work is listening to music while typing data all day long.

I am still not sure if I will subscribe again or not, but having the possibility to train skills for free does sounds great.
