Logged off while Citadel I was in is destroyed in a WH

I have been searching around, but can't seem to find a proper answer.

What happens if I am docked in a Citadel in WORMHOLE SPACE, but gets destroyed while I am logged off?

Do I log back into the SHIP I was docked into in space? Next to a wreck of the Citadel?

Do I log back into POD back at my medical K-Space? Thus the ship I was in is destroyed too.

If I am going to be AFK for a few days, wouldn't the best option be to load up the 'SHINY STUFF' into a Orca with a Cloak and log off in a safe away from the Citadel?

This. I believe you will appear in space in whatever ship you were docked in at the time.

At least that was my experience.

From what I've been told everything inside the citadel gets the drop mechanic applied to it, and everything else gets destroyed. All clones including you get podded. I however have never lost a citadel so I cannot confirm these theories. I hope to never find out first hand! I've potentially also heard that the ship you're actively piloting while offline gets destroyed 100%; but again I cannot confirm this. Just musings from things I've read. Of course there are always bugs and mixups and such so "what is supposed to happen" isn't always "what happens." So one person's experience isn't always "that's the way it is" only "that's what happened to me/them" etc.

If you're going to be afk for a few days (over a vulnerability period too) and you're worried about evictions then I recommend pulling everything out and logging it off wherever you can. A bowhead or an orca or a freighter would be good or even a DST if you've got very little. Pull it all out, find a deep safe, and safe logout.

Then when you log in start hammering on D-Scan and go home if you can. Although if you don't have a home to go to, you might need to find a way to scan your way out of the wormhole.... Which if you've only got one character and they're in an orca and it's not fit with scan probes you'll probably have to stay logged out until someone can come rescue you, otherwise your efforts to save your stuff were in vain.

This is why it's always a good idea to have a fully fueled and strontted offlined large control tower in system with moderate defenses. That way in case of emergencies you can turn it on and have somewhere safe to sit for a couple of days until you can get things sorted out.

For what it's worth I was inactive and had 2 characters docked in this when it died.

I logged back in a couple weeks after it was destroyed and found both characters in their ships floating in space at the citadel's previous location. Anything I had onboard the citadel was gone of course, but my characters were unharmed along with the ships they were piloting.

It doesn't show what else was dropped? Bummer.

Hmm, it is worth noting at least. We'd need a wider sample than three characters to see if that's how it actually functions. Could be a fluke or could be what actually happens. I don't recall which dev blog talked about it or if CCP even acknowledged it (they had to of, and if someone finds it please enlighten us!).

Thanks for sharing though; it's useful information to know and something to hope for I suppose. If that's what's intended then load a freighter or an orca up with everything you value and stay docked; that'll be the closest we in wormhole space get to asset safety (which I don't think is actually a good thing, but it's w/e). Wait a week, log in with a scout to ensure it's not camped and gtfo.

Straight

I had no probes onboard either, because I'm so good at eve.

So I put a support ticket in asking a GM for a mercy move to highsex since I'd been inactive for months, had expensive pods and was in expensive T3s. He said no, but did give each character a depot, 8 probes and launcher. Cool

You sure, it was the position of the Citadel?

Actually, if you log on, after your parking citadel was destroyed, you will appear somewhere in that system, but NOT the position, where your citadel was. Random position.

No, I can't be sure it was the exact position of the citadel.

I assumed it was, as I remember a lot of random crap in the position where I spawned in, few depots, some containers etc. But I didn't stop to check, just terror-logged when I realised what I was flying and that I had no cloak or probes, and ran screaming to Mr GM. Lol

If you're only going to be gone a couple of days you can adjust next weeks vulnerability schedule to cover the days you'll miss.

If you have control over the timers then yes, a good option is to always keep your timers on days you're going to be there. It's also not a bad idea to change them up every other week or so to keep anyone looking to burn you out guessing. If it's every single Friday for 3 hours, well that gives your enemy some easy intel and all. But if it changes throughout the week they might show up on that Friday only to find out you moved it to a Monday.

However, if you're not in control of the timers, and are in fact just a member of a corporation or a resident of a citadel, it's still not a bad idea to take some precautions yourself; especially if you're worried about eviction already. No one cares about your stuff more than you, except maybe your attacker.

RL got me first. I'm reluctantly "winning" due to time/hardware. But plotting return.
