PI question

Hey guys,

Recently started getting into PI. I was wondering if I chain together several modules with storage facilities (Launch Pad-Command Center-Warehouse), have items routed through all three of them, and the last one fills up, does the surplus start accumulating at the next storage unit in the chain? Or does it just go to waste?

Thanks for your help.

You can not chain storages (launchpad or silo), the game won't allow routing from storage to another storage. The outgoing material stops in the storage and cannot be moved from it to another one, unless you use manual way called expedite transfer.
You can somehow work around using multiple launchpads, direct finished product from one factory to first launchpad, output from other factory to second launchpad, etc...

Depending on your goals, you can have the ECU go to a storage facility, then route from there to the basic factories (P0->P1), and route the factories to a launch pad.

Edit: but no, as above said, there's no way to have a "buffer overflow" protection in PI. Any excess from a cycle (such as if you're making the mistake of going from the ECU to factories [NEVER NEVER NEVER, always storage in between]) will simply vanish. So if your launchpad's at 99.5% capacity, and the next cycle being completed would add 10% to it, you're losing 9.5%.

If your looking to have longer check-in periods so it's more of a weekly chore and not something you have to do a few times weekly then mine the raw material then send it to storage, from that storage send it to a processor, from a processor send tier 2 products to space port for export, it takes a while to get enough to make it worthwhile to check it about once a week, sometimes longer if it's a low volume raw product.
