Your Citadel is under attack, you have 3 toons, no friends, what do?!

A small WH gang arrives on grid, ready to smash your sand castle (Astra).

With only 3 toons and no friends, what could possibly be your best defense you could muster?

I know everything is situational in EVE, but could the below be a deterrent:

1x Gunner in a fully fitted Astra

2x Rattlesnake RHML w/ Sentry Drones (Sitting at the undock)

Obviously if I'm well out numbered by a great deal, it will be cutting loses and Orca evate at a later time.

Ideas on a 3 man ship defense if friends aren't available?

Use your WH ISK and pay some mercs to show up for the timer? You may have to bookmark the chain in and teach them a bit about WH mass limits, but even a few hired henchman should scare away the gang?

When fitted and used correctly, the citadel is a powerfull weapon.

Use the citadel void bombs on the hostile logistics to drain their cap. Use the ECM in your citadel midslots to break the cap chain. This breaks their ability to rep each other and you can either kill them with the other weapons and/or ships or you force them to warp off and disengage.

Calling help is also a viable strategy. Either batphone friends or hire mercs.

I've thought about this a bit myself too. Keen to hear ideas. Actually had this scenario happen just recently. Big smile

Well, kinda. In my case the citadel was still anchoring, so using that as a weapon was outta the question.

There was 12+ enemy, and while granted there's like 300 of me there's still only one me.

There were no real choices for ship type, only whatever the 3 characters I had in the hole were flying. It was 4 but I already lost one taking the enemy bait to see just how many were waiting to bash the citadel. There really was no option but to call friends, which I did and who came and rescued my princesses and saved the citadel. Though I lost another 2b in ships during the two fights that ensued, along with the 1b Proteus earlier, totaling more than 3 times what the citadel itself was worth to start with. Lol

It was like my second day back in eve ... I was pretty rusty, OK?? Oops

But anyway, my next option would have been mercs.

But you said no friends, I'm assuming in the broad sense, so that means no mercs either.

Tbh I think what you'd employ if you were solo would totally depend on what you're up against. A couple of rattlers like you said might work well against a group like the one who were attacking my astra (they had almost no logi). But if they have like half dozen logi ...

Idea90% of the time, the reason for that fleet inside your WH Home space is simply they want some PVP content. Most WH corporations/alliances will gladly take a fight from someone in a ship even if you are outnumbered and show you respect that is due you. Only 10% of the time are they truly there to evict you. A timer will initiate contact and force a fight. I can't speak for the WH community, however if you ask most of the WH players, they probably would agree that a good fight over eviction is always a better alternative for the long game.

RollIn most cases...calling Mercs just creates a personal grudge against your corp/alliance and though you might win the day, they will be back after seeding a permanent scanning alt in your home hole.

WH etiquette is to give a good fight and they move on to the next 'GF'. Fight your own battles, it's (calling on someone to fight for you) one of the most despised activities in the game today.

That won't do much to deter a serious eviction fleet. Within a hour hole control can be maintained and all of your assists are cut off from any potential security. Although this rarely happens, only if bad blood is held between each other. Or in extreme cases boredom. On the other hand if you are a rich manufacture, I am sure you will have interest peeking your way.

I recommend you make friends, eventually your luck will run out and you will need them.
