CCP has been working, and doing a great job on improving player experience with Mining, citadels, skins, whatever.

But,

Personally for me, eve has always been a game about spaceships.
That feeling of pure adrenaline rush when you lock a hostile ship, and activate your guns is truly unmatched.

So, that makes me wonder, if upgrading this secondary and tertiary stuff has been lingering too much ?

Isnt it the time to start concentrating on ships again ? Time for some great expansions like Red Moon Rising (when t2 and capitals were introduced).

Time to introduce other calss t3 ships, new factions and playable races, completely new line of ships ?

I hope next time, instead seeing a new skin for some random hauler, we can see some of this kind of feauters implemented to our favourite game.

The word 'new', like the word 'survivor' has been laden with positive associations.
The question 'What's new?' is never evaluated, the question 'What's good?' is never asked.
Thus the search for MORE NEW FREE EXCLUSIVE stuff shouts down any search for quality, in fact is prepared to sacrifice boring old quality for that MORE NEW FREE EXCLUSIVE ELITE PREMIUM etc etc

I feel exactly opposite: for last many years we got almost nothing except new ships and rebalance of old ones. Citadels are something really new.

Personally i used not more than 10-20 ships for the whole my history. And there are the whole categories of ships i didn't use at all (and will not use because i'm not interested in it) like command destroyers or combat ships.

Not sure more ships are really needed. More ways to pvp? Yes! But not more "of the same".

T2 was in the game when I joined in Exodus, so Castor expansion at the latest. I still think a balance between new stuff and refinement is best.

I started playing in Empyrean Age and in my opinion the best expansion was Apocrypha. That expansion had something for all players to enjoy.

Maybe it's time to add Player built Stargates to the game for exploration and colonization of Jove space. That could also introduce new ships, equipment, skills, etc. Could have a story plot that the Jovian Stargate system went down due to the Drifters attacking them.

Anyway, I agree with the OP that it's time for something new, this game needs another great expansion, something that all players can enjoy.

Quite happy with my ships, but ...

Still waiting for my pigtails, OP.

And about 50,000 other fashion-related things. But at least we have Berets, the hat precedent has now been set and coming soon a new world of microtransaction goodness with the Aurum change, yay. The playing field is set for people to waste tons of cash on vanity stuff and my credit card is standing by!

It's far more important to bring shoppable shiny and glittery things to the shop so alphas can waste their money on them.....

This is FTP remember?

Pandoras Box is open and EVE will share the fate of other games that become FTP......

Of course the time is now. It is temporally impossible for the time to not be now.

In my opinion CCP has a difficult task in front of them, which may be why they're working on other projects. Eve is no normal game, it isn't like CoD where playing it means I enjoy shooters. Eve is near genreless, the fact I play tells you nothing of whether I like mining, small gang, sov warfare, hot dropping; nor does it tell you if I pay in real money, have more than one account, or how much time I want to put into eve. Point being there are many player group here, not like most games with just the one player group and these players are often in conflict. CCP is less of a game design company and more of a galactic government.

I think we have become tired of failed features, and doubt any new features will improve the game. Maybe we need to be less 'rational' and continue giving them chances. How hard is it to react positively to news of a change, we have collectively become depressed about the decisions CCP makes.

This post brought to you by CCP's alpha forum alt initiative. Playing the eve forums has never come cheaper.

While I like new stuff as much as the next player, so many ships and weapon systems need adjusting (tech 3 cruisers are up next for a major rework) ... putting more new ships and weapons into the mix just compounds the problem.

Winter expansion for EVE Online
We are going all-in with the EVE Online winter expansion. Using all new capabilities (dynamic PvE etc.), we will create amazing new content in the universe. The heart of this expansion will be all about new content: New challenges, new rewards, new aspects of EVE to learn and explore in Empire space.

Solving the existing problems would be fine before creating new ones with "new content".......
