In eve the biggest threat to a player is other players. Im unaware if ccp had tried this before but could it be possible in eve that not only capsuleers are dangerous but the very systems they fly in are also trying to get or maybe even aid them. What im thinking is sort of randomized "weather" system for each constellation. Here are some examples.

Solar flare activity (system wide)
Shield recharge time is increased due to the heavy solar flare activity putting stress on your shields.

Asteroid shower (system wide)
Armor max hp is reduced due to small asteroids hitting the hull.

Roaming black hole (constellation wide)
Ok so this one is a doozie since BH can be anything from trivial to OP.
So the bh will have an origin system but with a twist, the closer you get the effects can get worst. Nothing in the extremes like insta seath but like 5 jumps away you notoce that ship top speed and agility is reduced more and more closer you get till you hit origin system where all cynos are blocked because the bh could suck you in.

I would like to hear peoples thoughts, if you like or dislike or improvements then please let us hear it.

PvE is boring. PvP is fun. PvE should rarely be a meaningful threat, so introducing weird effects like this is going in a completely wrong direction. If you want random effects that screw up PvP balance go find a wormhole.

Incursions do this as well.

But incursions can definitely be expanded. The npc's could differ and the effects could differ. And not every 'storm' needs to bring npc's or effect a whole constellation.

Stuff like this already exists, but it's very limited, existing only in Wormholes, Incursion systems, and maybe a few other places but nothing that comes to mind.

In general I'm not a fan of making this sort of effect ubiquitous though. Random effects aren't something you can plan around, and Eve is a game of planning and strategy first and foremost. Random system effects just don't add anything fun here, it's just a roll of the dice and suddenly your fit doesn't work well anymore or suddenly works way better. At least with Wormhole effects you can plan around them and people do, to hilarious effect.

The only danger that I would like to see is the sun.
Warping to 0 km on the sun should be dangerous.
The ship should take damage when so close to it.

It would add new types of gameplay,

- Sun-Tanking Ships -

Or Sun-Bumping ships - Bump those duelers or whoever else is around into the sun and watch them BURN...Twisted

They are dangerous. That is why you cannot warp to them at 0. When you press to 0 at a star, you will still be 1 million kilometer away from the star and your shields protect you from solar radiation or every time you warp to a star, you will in-voluntary vacate your boat and are back in highsec again.

Eve Minions is recruiting.

This is the law of ship progression!

Perhaps these effects could be added and then players could have a way to predict them? Like say with a lab module on thier station

One thing EVE sorely lacks is terrain.

We have pinch points, such as gates, but a wider terrain where you can win or lose battles due to using or not using natural terrain and features is missing.

Every real world battle has been won or lost by Generals maximising the advantages of terrain or failing to do so.

So yes, Interesting Idea, but it couldn't be just random, It would need to be able to be used in tactical decisions.

You're describing wormhole effects. And titan effect generators.

It's not missing, it's nonexistent and irrelevant. Fights in eve occur in fields spanning tens of kilometers for small gangs, to hundreds or even thousands when it turns into TiDi Blobs Of Death. The only time things become an obstruction are when navigating. Guns and lasers? Yea, those just pass right through every ship except the one you're actually shooting. If you wanted to talk about obstructive positioning, you'd have to start with how missiles are the only weapon system that would actually work in that scenario.
