Alpha pvp?

Been trying to figure how to pull this, never had gone on sólo roams before, only on corp fleets and it was as tackle while the rest dished the damage.

Now that im in alpha i've been trying to spend isk on lowsec pvp but it seems nothing works. Being race locked isnt an issue, have most of the skills maxed, but bringing an enemy past armor seems imposible.

The main ship i've been flying is the Tormentor, tried several fittings but cant neither tank nor Dish damage on the targets. Already added thermodinamics and biology for extra boosting but that doesnt seem enough against any Target because of T2 superiority.

The idea was to enjoy some cheap combat but the only kills i've gotten had been because of the drones while someone else killed. Should i invest on faction modules or something? Because meta 4 seem to be useless against anything but pve.

I believe Gorski Car posted some articles to CrossingZebras that cover fits for alpha players. Not sure he's gotten to Amarr yet.

What targets are you usually throwing yourself at? Because solo PvP in smaller ships is already kind of hard mode when you're an Omega. Small ship PvP is much less forgiving than going out in larger ships with more EHP.

A lot of PVP is choosing your targets. Each ship has different strengths and weaknesses, speed, tank, range, resist profile, bonuses to types of ewar, etc.

By knowing a lot about different ship types you can pick targets that you can take while avoiding ships that could exploit your weakness.

In addition, Just as you can know what the normal use for a ship is, so can an enemy. Some people might put a 'surprise' ewar module, tracking disruptor, etc on an unbonused ship to gain an edge on an unsuspecting enemy, or "bait" them with a ship that appears weak (like a heron) but fitted for PVP.

if you want to solo your best bet is with a beam executioner, you'll be able to dish out 100+ DPS at the edge of scram range without heat sink so that will give you room to fill the lows with SAAR and resist mods and tank pretty decently while still being fast enough to stand a chance of disengaging if the fight isn't going your way.

Been engaging diferent ships from navy frigates to the usual t1 like incursus or even another tormentor.

I've tried to avoid faction stuff as much as i can but it gets Boring go wait for a "worthy" oponent. So i have gotten to launch against the first guy that enters the pocket.

195dps out to 8km optimal as well.

I used to use a no point punisher to great effect about a year ago. A lot of people don't realise that they aren't pointed and this thing puts out nice damage meaning a decent ttk,

Alphas can use T2 tank and damage mods.

A lot of the T2 items only require lvl 4 skills so some of them are ok.

Anything requiring a 'specialisation' skill is out of the window. So weapons, drones and ships mainly.

Regardless of what fools might tell you, it is almost impossible to kill a reasonably skilled Omega clone with an Alpha. Bordering on actually impossible.

You can be somewhat effective in fleets, no more.

You need to pick your fights. Look at the characters that you want to fight before engaging. If he/she doesn't have a Gold Omega symbol next to there name then your good to go.

You need to think more tactically. Don't go in guns blazing. No battle plan is unplanned, unless your ambushed. Start to think as a predator. Also if your alpha take a destroyer & only go for frigates. If you have a cruiser go for the destroyers/Frigates. Frigates vs frigate can be hit & miss, if your both equally matched.

If your Solo, only go for a solo pilot. Some of them have friends in system. So warp out if needed. Others just sit in complexes. You start to learn just the plexers. They will sit in a large plex in a frigate. I always find these people easiest to kill.

Insane.

Not true, the rock paper scissor principle in frig pvp (which doesnt rule 100%, but it does have a very big impact) means that even with bad skills if you fit right you can easily overcome a better skilled opponent.

While, as a amarr pilot this is quite difficult it holds true for the other races (and amarr has the beam tormentor, which is extremely strong). Something like a td armor hookbill will beat a blaster/ac frig, even with a giant sp difference. A lml condor will beat a ab frig once it has orbit established and so on.

Counter fits work for alphas just as well as for real players.

Although i must say, if you actually play the game more then 5 hours per month 15 bucks really isnt that much money.

Its possible but it needs to be a hard counter to your opponents fit. If you take 2 players in a identical fit one is alpha and one is omega then alpha doesnt have a chance. Omega is faster, has better tank, deals more dmg, tracks better...

With the introduction of skill injectors eve became pay to win, you can try to rationalize it but the simple truth is this: if you take 2 noob svipul pilots and one of them has perfect skills while the other can barely sit in the ship then the one with the better skills will win because he is faster, has better tank, deals more dmg, tracks better...

Well the same could be said for a pilot that has been playing (paying) for longer. You can get SP with time as well and a noob svipul vs a L33t svipul would be way worse than noob vs Injected as the L33t Pilot has the personal skills as well as character skills.

Also Faction and DS mobs /pirate ships are significantly better than T1/T2 in most cases and can be bought so you have always been able to pay to win in EVE.

General rule of thumb is that a poor noob is at a disadvantage.

Your locked to meta guns. But meta guns are not always so bad. Often people still won't use the t2 ammo even when they have t2 guns. And the meta guns save quite a bit on fitting, and they overheat longer! These are considerable trade offs. The fits here look pretty solid and I remember looking at decent gnosis fits for amarr but especially gallente using faction medium drones.

Make faction war occupancy pvp instead of pve https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=53815&#post53815

Beam coercer and dragoon in different variations are good even in meta fits, also surprising your opponents goes a long way (for example normal pvp cruci in fw environment can kill a lot of things that will want to fight it etc.)

If not "most" or "all".

Some of the best PvPers around could actually just be really good target pickers.
