Is it normal than right-click menus are transparent even if the transparent slider is set to zero ? Sounds like a bug.

The UI is already incoherent with the neocom who don't care of this setting, so I hope it isn't a design choice... It is weird to see an UI with transparency there and opacity over there, it looks amateurish.

Also, can we get the scroll wheel for the probe window/star map to inherit the properties of the inverted mousewheel zoom, if selected?

For example, if I alt + ScrollUp and it normally zooms in, one would expect the probes to tighten in on an area. But If I am instead used to inverted zoom, then I am used to the opposite, and I would instead expect alt + ScrollUp to make my probes cover a larger area.

What if someone wants them to be reverse of each other? There should be two separate invert settings - one for probe size, one for zoom. That way we can tweak to preference. I mean, that's literally why a lot of us are upset: Not having options.

How I control my ship cam is not the same as how I like to control my Map cam. I prefer a smoother camera on my Ship, and a stiffer camera on my Map, but because the Map now inherits Ship camera settings, I had to Stiffen my main camera's Inertia setting to make the map usable. I can no longer have both. Similarly, Maps are inheriting the Offset. I think what happened was CCP tried to simplify their code by sharing camera code...

CCP - please offer us more detailed settings / freedom to tweak our UI sounds and behaviors to our personal preference?

I am also running into an inordinate amount of lag when I am hacking a container, especially when I am killing the core.

this is my biggest ask as well. it was inverted properly until the update, now i have to Alt+scroll the opposite direction to tighten probes. Just muscle memory issues mostly, but between that and not being able to find the dscan button, im slower than ever.

I have had this issue for a long time. I suspect memory leak.

What happens to your FPS? I was going from ~90fps before the hack to sub 30 fps during the hacking minigame and then as soon as the game closes I'm back to full FPS again.

Map doesn't work now, can't look up systems and my hot key for zoom in and zoomout that's set to page up and page down no longer works with the map.
Since I dont have a mouse and I play on laptop that's kind of a deal breaker on using the map.

The problem is your zoomed all the way in so the screen is black.

Issue: New map window center pivot offset is effected by "Camera Center" setting.

When using multiple screens the "Camera Center" setting found in "Display & Graphics" -> "Camera Settings" is useful to move the default view pivot into a more convenient location. The new map window view pivot is also modified by this setting even if the map is in floating mode. This results in an off-center pivot impairs the usability and wastes screen real estate.

Same issue - Old Probe Scanner/Map window didn't suffer from this.

Put scan button and angle/distance sliders placement back to original immediately! This is stupid change. Completely opposite from where they were.

I have my overview on right side from top to bottom, and dscan window slighty bigger than overview and at the bottom corner. Both of them overlaps, and like I said, my dscan window is slighty bigger, so i could click scan button poking outside overview edge. Now I have to resize overview to be shorter at the bottom, so I could click scan button which is all way to the my bottom right corner.... Genius.

CCP if there's A, B, C and D features. And you receive feedbacks that complain that A, B, and C sucks and doesn't complain anything about feature D. What you should do is listen and fix A, B and C, and don't change anything about feature D. Instead of leaving A and B alone, makes C worse and change feature D.

Feature D in this being goddamn placement of scan button and angle/distance sliders.

Over 36 hours and 1 downtime later, still not a fix in sight for 1-9 hotkeys constantly changing Scan filters no matter if the window is focused or not.

We at least have some work arounds for other issues but having to choose between changing keybinds I've been using for years or just not logging in isn't anywhere close to being a workaround.

Opting out of using the new windows also isn't possible as the old version of the D-Scan is also broken.

My Omega runs out soon and you can be damn sure it wont be getting renewed if this isn't fixed before then.

The numeric keys now select filters from probe scan and dscan windows even when they aren't focused.

On a related note, it'd be nice to have an option to rebind the filters to something else.

[edit] I got bored of reading the thread; after posting I noticed the reply immediately prior to mine has the same complaint. /jinx

from a wormhole resident.

a problem that i don't think has been given yet:

It is now no longer possible to deselect all sigs once you have selected one. Previously you could revert to having all sigs deselected by sorting any column. Even in opening and closing probe scanner, the selection is retained. At times it is preferable to be able to see all signatures well, at the same time, to determine what is best to scan next.

problems with bookmark pins on system map:

Bookmark "pins" now obscure signature indicators, having a more frontal place in the layers. This makes it difficult to probe in the presence of bookmarks.

The handles on the probe scan object can disappear in the presence of bookmarks, often in the direction you would like to drag. This makes it difficult to probe in the presence of bookmarks.

problems related to visual clutter:

The green of the dscan cone is too bright. The human eye responds more to green than other colors. The dscan cone is saturating my vision and adding more colors to contribute to visual confusion, making it harder to probe scan while the dscan cone is out. I would like to be able to probe scan while the dscan cone is out because I am often doing both things at once.

The green circles around items in dscan range are too bright and contribute to visual clutter making it hard to probe scan while dscanning. I would like to be able to probe scan while the dscan cone is out without having to turn off labels for planets, signatures, or bookmarks I would like to warp to. The green circles are not needed and are just coddling bad players. At least provide an option to disable the green circle indicators without disabling turning the labels off in the system map.

No other signatures should be present when selecting a single signature. I understand this was intentional, but it is the wrong choice. The purpose of selecting a single signature is to visually isolate it, making it easier to find among all of the clutter. Even though the other signatures are dimmed, they still contribute visual noise that was not present when selecting a signature in the previous release. This decision is so questionable that it makes me wonder if the previous system map was scrapped, a new one was built, no one could figure out how to hide the signatures, and a workaround was performed.

other problems

Controls should not be at the bottom. They should be at the top where they were previously. This is because players often overlap windows, leaving tabs exposed at top as a quick way to navigate between multiple interfaces. Lets say you have probe scan and dscan in tabs together. You then have notes open, shifted down so that you can get to either of the other tabs easily, but maybe it's covering the "scan" button at the bottom. Previously, you could also reach the "scan" button as well, since it was unlikely to be covered up at the top with the tabs, scanning and bringing the window of results to the front. To do this now you could press "v," but this doesn't bring the results to the front that are covered by another window. To bring results to the front you have to take two actions, either pressing "v" and clicking or clicking the window and then clicking "scan."

We are no longer able to resize the probe size by clicking-and-dragging in the system map. I know this was intentional. Maybe some players were complaining. The players that were happy with it had no reason to complain. Previously I could do all probe scan adjustments by only clicking-and-dragging in the system map. I didn't need to use keys or a mousewheel whose direction is inverted relative to the zoom in space. There was a visual indicator (brightening of scan spheres) to let you know when you would be adjusting the size. With minimal practice, accidental resizes or misses were not a problem. Please provide a way to re-enable this functionality.

The system map now has a minimum size that makes it prohibitively large for some players. I prefer to keep the system map in the corner of the screen, active nearly all the time. I am often scanning, dscanning, and piloting at the same time. Now it covers part of my overview and mod controls that it did not previously.

The green color of expanded items in the system map (hovering over a planet and moons for example) is bizarre and confusing. Every other expanded menu has white text. White has better contrast on a dark background. The green gets lost in the middle of a green dscan cone and green circles that already indicate that the items are in dscan range.

summary

The scanning changes were unnecessary and too far-reaching. Though a few minor improvements were made (quick orthogonal views, some visual indication of whether or not things are in dscan range), dscanning and probe scanning simultaneously is worse now. It appears it was done just to have something to do or maybe to encourage bad players to revisit features they did not use to their fullest. So many changes have no basis in good design. Others are completely oddball and make you wonder if there is a story behind them that has nothing to do with usability.

This is the second day in a row I've logged off without doing more than probing out one system due to frustration. I can't imagine playing much longer with the features I use most so painful to use.

You broke d-scanner. Now you cant use the number keys 1-4 to activate modules or other usefull things you might have those keys mapped to.

This change is so counter intuitive and annoying - can we at least have an option to change it?

Also this, moving analyze button to the bottom of the window... results in this:

Same goes for d-scan 'scan' button....

just... why??

+1,

Also I find it faster to access buttons at the top of the window.

Side Note is there a way to adjust the brightness of Scan results in the scanning window. I'm OK with the Spheres being fairly dull but the Dots can be a bit hard to see, that and being able to resize Probes with click and drag.

There is also a small bug i have noticed with probe layouts, The probe sizing slider does not update to reflect the new size. if you ahd scanned at 0.25AU and then click a 8Au layout the slider stays at 0.25 and you ahve to drag it up to decrease the size.

A small issue: when I open the program each time, Anomalies appear in my scanner even if they are checked out. I have to check and uncheck them to make them disappear.
