Is there any way out of getting ganked via webs etc?

Fairly new player, focusing on missions right now, mostly lvl 2 and a like 1 lvl3 agent that will talk to me.
The lvl 3 guy has given me a couple missions that go into .4 sec space, I generally try to get it done and gtfo but two missions have been a massive pain as they take so long that pvp gankers (or whatever the "eve term" is for them) pop in and web the hell out of me.
Once webbed and a slew of other red icons across the bottom, I literally cannot do squat.
I have tried training up some ECM drones and various jammer or ecm fittings on ships but I am obviously missing something.
I just got whacked in a Dominix in about 30 sec when a frigate or destroyer popped in and unloaded a ton of ECM/statis/web crap on me, and then something big, like a dread or carrier (I was dead so fast I couldn't even focus on it to show info) popped in and blew the **** out of me.

I am not coming on to QQ or get words of reassurance, and yes, I know if I just stay in a base I will be safe....Roll

Just looking for ACTUAL advice on how I can at least get a fighting chance against these pricks since I apparently HAVE to go into low sec eventually.

Congrats for going to low sec.

You were killed by a barghest a pirate faction battleship although half the damage appears to be from rats.

There isn't really a short answer here, what you have chosen is inherently risky. You can refuse and skip the missions bug may take a standings hit.

Your fit needs some work (there are a few other threads on here for Domi mission fits) try ships and modules section.

But really if you choose to continue you need to become lowsec aware, this means watching dscan for combat probes having bookmarks for safespots being aware of who is in local. Smaller more agile ships could be more appropriate.

For now get missions from agents that dont send you to low sec, most dont send you more then 3 jumps, so something 3 jumps away from low. Doing missions there without a backup or corp is just a bad idea. You can try some defensive pvp fits but likely it wont help much, never mind gimping your pve set up.

also ran low-sec missions as a newb , here's a couple basics that may help :

make a bookmark between the in-gate , and your mission area . this give you a quick safe spot and a celestial to align out to .

as you often get sent to the same low-sec , take a fast frig and make some off-grid bookmarks by each gate , for watching traffic , and one by the sun as a warp-out point that you can be aligned to .

jettison a can as soon as you come out of warp in the mission area , and after every acceleration gate , to decloak hostiles .

get off the warp-in beacon . MJD fits make this easy , and work well with a dominix .

make sure combat probes are on your overview and use directional scan often , once you see combat probes start reducing the scan range , gtfo when they're close enough to give a warpable hit ; don't let your mission area be compromised .

be friendly and a good sport when they catch you , don't be afraid to speak to your hunters in local .. just cuz they're trying to kill you , doesn't mean they're not nice guys .. Big smile

good luck ~

New player also, could you clarify what it means to be off-grid?

Being on grid means you are visible and can be interacted with (shot at, webbed, scrambled, etc).

By being off grid, you are far enough away that they need to probe you down and then warp to you. By having an off grid bookmark, you can safely D-scan the gate without being immediately spotted. This is important because D-scan has a maximum range of about 14 AU. If your mission happens to be 15 AU away, you can't D-scan the gate from that location and don't know if there are 0, 1 or 10 ships waiting around it. However, they can D-scan you back, and if they have probes can eventually find you. This just buys you some time to think about your next step.

Try moving to a system not near low sec. Missions are generally assigned randomly within a few jumps of the station assigning them. If you are not near low sec, you probably won't get missions located in low sec. Use your agent locator inside the station to find other nearby mission agents. Locate their systems on your map and pick one further from low sec than your current system.

If you do get a mission in low sec, turn it down. You can turn down missions every once in a while without taking a standing hit. If you get the alert that you're about to lose standing, just hit cancel and let some time go by. You won't get dinged for ignoring a mission offer, only declining one.

Please do not make the mistake of bringing your battleship into low sec until you are familiar with Eve pvp as it applies to low sec mechanics. There are no "magic tricks" that can make this safe without fully understanding how things work.

Would like to add most missions done are very likely for the loyalty point rewards. Check those out as well. You might be missing out on a large chunk of ISK.

Here's a site with complete lists.

Tips:

- Low security means ppl will hunt you down. So fit your ship accordingly. Add pvp modules, cut dps a bit and push your tank.

- Take the habit of creating Bookmark in every single system you go in. Organise them and name them in a way convinient for you to search quiclky in your Bookmark archives.

- Perch and offgrid bookmarks on each gate, satation, astéroide belt, moon, planet, poco, citadel and are always usefull. If you have time and are visiting on regular basis the same system, those will be needed. the hunter will notice your presences and get a feeling of your habits!

- when you are in a mission, alwyas fight alligned. Make sur you ahve several "not too important" Bookmarks all around the system so you can always allign to one or an other accordingly to your mission geometric setu up. When troulbe show up, instat warp to safe! note that those "not so imporant" bookmark will, overtime, become compromised. so the idea is to get out of trouble by warping to those "not so imporatnt" bookmark and then, warp to your "super private bookmark''

- when you are in your bookmark location with your ship, never stand still... navigate full speed in random direction... never know whos above you looking for fun!

- when you warp to you mission, jump a gate, safe spot, always drop a jetcan so it will decloak unwelcomed guess. Copie useless bookmark to your cargo hold. Take no space and are free... copy them and jettisson one per can!

- your ship is pvp fit and tanked, when you are in your mission, dont stay near the warp in. If there is no mission gate, the hunter will drop on top of you, but if there is mission gate, the hunter are forced to use it... so stay away from those. when the get close to you, they will appear uncloacked (hopefully because of the can droped) and they will be 24-30km away from you and you will be alligned! Sounds good for an escape with style!

- Dscan the hell out of your fingers! Like if there is no tomorrow! Dscan is your friend. do it all the time. It must be part of ryour muscular memory when you play! 4 combat probes within 5 AU = Warp out to "not important" safe spot, then warp to "private safe spot", the full speed in random direction, than evaluate the situation.

- dont hesitate to postpone the completion of your mission. find system with 2 agents avalable to you and come back later to complete your mission. Rats respawn each server reset (daily) for 7 days = more ISK. the Time bonus does not worth the lost of 300M ISK ship. Or log off in a local station for the night and turn in your quest tomorrow!

- use your offgrid and perch bookmark to gate when traveling.

- bring friends... but the more you are, the more content you provide to local residents. If you want pvp that good. otherwise, if you visite those system on regular basis, the local citizen will remeber your name and your friend and will try to engage you more often as you provide good fight. Moto: denied the fight! Be slippery!

- whenn you die, ask your ganker how to improved! However, ganker usually engage only in fight they think they will win. If they engage you, it mean they think they have the upper hand witch also mean, they probably have the proper counterstrike for your fit. Hnce not much you can do battle-wise. There few less expericenced ganker that will proceed with less caution and you may have a chance during combat to escape.
