Exactly this! The new cam feels so clunky when you try to track something because it turns so fast and the target is always behind your ship. It takes away from your situational awareness.

I'm quoting you since you said it first. This is something I ask to have back every few months. It made my camera a hell of a lot easier to focus and track things. Now my camera is semi-sentient and does whatever the hell it feels like sometimes, new camera on or off.

I just want the custom tracking position back so I can put my ship at wherever I like. Other things are not that bad.

Aye, custom tracking position.

I would also like more zoom in power, and for the orbit camera to remember its position when you jump through a gate. I currently have to press the orbit camera button twice every time I undock and once after every jump to get the camera back to being behind my ship.

Do you know if devs are looking in to this? We would love a little feedback on custom tracking position.

CCP,
Give us at least some news about our lost Custom Tracking Position .

I've gotten quite used to the new camera. I started using it as soon as it was available for beta testing, just like I did with their beta scan window, so that I was used to it by the time it was live. I don't really have any issues with the camera as it stands right now.

It's nice that you like the new camera, but I will have to totally disagree with you on all points made by other commenters here. This "new" camera you speak so highly of is a train wreck and many many MANY players have complained to no end, and in fact you all just completely ignore the ON GOING issues yet today we have.

I have tried and tried to deal with it in ways that would work for me but to know avail. The old camera was by far MUCH BETTER than what we have now, I have spoken.

(Excuse my rough english please.)
Definitely, custom tracking position, additionally to custom camera center (still in game), was excellent combination of settings. What i like now is that double click on "orbit camera" locks it, facing ahead. But i found it only accidentally (didn't see any reference to this function, not even in shortcuts), and i miss ability to toggle it. What i also like on new camera, is "toggle autotracking" shortcut (Shift+C), but what i am bit sick of, is that tracking is only - partially - usable with dynamic camera on, otherwise tracked target is succesfully hidden behind your ship. And "partially" because ship position with dynamic camera is so extremely excentered, that when you zoom in to finally be able to see some details of your ship, it's already out of field of view. What i also don't understand, is why ship in warp (dynamic camera on, tracking off) moves half way out of FOV. From rear view you can even see your ship's "interior" due to camera/ship model collision (for example on Talos or Noctis). I can imagine myself to live pretty well without this feature... Or maybe make it rather 'symbolic' - some 20 or 30% of actual push-back should work well enough, i'm sure.

Really? Seriously?

I'm utterly astonished that you have to ask.

All you need do is look through the relevant feedback threads and note the number of times the words "custom tracking position" occur and you will have your answer.

the only thing that is missing is the custom tracking positioning with the orbital cam...

Cam Bobbing
Dynamic FOV Changes
and other Options you can just DEACTIVATE in the Graphics Panel

Also, the little slider for "smoother" or "sticky" Camera Panning is AWESOME...just move it 20% to the right and if feels Way Way more responsive.

If you really never looked into the Available Options, and complain here using the default Camera Presets...well,...no words*

The only thing left...Custom Tracking Position like we had before.

I always placed the Tracking Camere a bit over my Ships, only a little bit...which made decloaking everything using CLoak/MWDCycle a lot easier. Now its difficult to see the model after the Cam snaps in and your Ship is in the middle-centered...well at least with the orbital Camera.

So yes, CCP Please, Custom Tracking Cam Position for EVERYONE !

If the menu options fixed all the camera sloppiness then there wouldnt be complaints about it. They dont. The camera often makes arced movement from target to target, it sticks on own ship like its got gum on it (when dynamic camera is enabled.) When aiming at a new target it acts as if its landing on a bag of marshmellows. With slider set to smooth it moves quickly towards the new target then acts as if it needs to slow down to make sure it doesnt miss (often it does seems to and has to change direction to end up on target.) The entire visual experience is unpleasant. It would be nice to use if it wasnt so sloppily implemented. If the majority of the users need to change "options" to make something usable then they arent "options". The concept is good and potential for the camera is there but its poorly done and that is a problem whether there are "options" to make it usable or not.

Hey my camera doesn't pull itself away from my ship on left-click anymore. Was that reverted?

If you mean autotracking then press SHIFT+C
When Dynamic Camera Movement is active your ship will move from center, if not - you just will look right in ship a$s

Custom tracking position needs to be reinstated. Plain and simple; it's the single most asked for thing related to the new camera and, while it's not the only gripe I hear constantly, it's probably the biggest one and would go a long way to making the camera more bearable. The other is how the camera slides forward of the ship with DCM enabled. I honestly cannot for the life of me see why anyone thought that was a good idea to implement or what purpose it serves unless it was meant purely to encourage disabling Dynamic Camera Movement, which makes even less sense.

The tracking camera button on the Selected Item box could use a looking at too as it fails to properly activate/deactivate the tracking camera more often than it working correctly.

I'd love a third-person fixed view behind my ship.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

That's actually in, just cannot remember how to get it to fire. It's got a hotkey bound to it by default if I'm not mistaken.
