When I am in station, I like to click other characters' info to see who they are.
And this is the oldest guy I find so far.

Morgan Freeman. He was born in 1937. Mark Harmon would be my second, 1951. I got the pleasure of bussing his table. He was nice. The one I really felt sorry for was Mr. Football, Hank Williams Jr.

I'm not a big fan of country music, and was perfectly ready to unleash on him, but after his wife? She walked around the place, telling everyone who she was married to. She wouldn't drink the same $450 wine that he did. She had to have more. Hank just sat there.

I left him alone. They both left half their bottles. I drank both of them while washing the dishes.

It used to mean something. I'm pretty sure it's not worth anything, today. I injected a lot more skills than a character of my age should have. Sure, look me up. But my tank my be a hell of a lot more than you thought it would be. I might have a few tricks up my sleeve than you thought about, something to do with about 10m SP extra, that I should not, and would not have had, in the past?

Just another form of e-peen waving. Just like sec status and killboards and how much isk you have in your wallet, how many people in your alliance, or how many officer mods on your rookie ship. Except in this case instead of having the biggest e-peen I guess the goal is who has the floppiest.

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe, no, people are NOT like you?

It used to be a measure of power. Now, if she says you are right, then so be it, it's epeen bragging, and you can all talk about mascara, but at the first, you should take people at their word. Maybe she's just curious. I also check out people's 'birthday;' it won't tell me how many SP they have, but it will let me know if they are experienced enough that I should consider them a threat, even in the face of a perfect tank and pretty good drone/weapon skills.

I'm not a pvp master. I have a lot of SP, more than they would expect, but that doesn't buy me actual life experience. If I think they are too old, and hence, too experienced, I still run.

Says the guy who was literally just bragging about how he's out smarted people by injecting skills and therefore has a statistically better ship than they might otherwise expect... Lol

No, totally nobody waving their ego around in here. None at all...

Seriously though, character age has almost nothing to do with SP total, especially these days. I know '03 characters who have taken multi-year breaks and have less SP than I do, and now with injectors there are year old characters with half my SP.

Oldest character I've seen is an '03. IIRC doesn't corp history for people that old start on the day corp history was added?

Ok, Cade. Get it off your chest. Bragging? Anyone can buy the stupid skills, if they want to. I'm sure a lot of people have. They just don't as readily say, hey, 'this flight is totally stimulated!'

I do. I admit what I've done, and I also know where exactly the weakness is.

I started in 2003 so had plenty of encounters with some of the oldest players in game. Your skillpoints dont mean anything unless theyre noy maxxed for your ship. Someone who started a year ago and didnt use injectors might have the very same tank as someone who started in 2003 if they specialized depending on what theyre flying. If all the 2003 player has done is F1 monkey theyre probably more skilled then the 2003 player too.

Fine, a measure of potential power; you're right, that's a technically more accurate way to phrase the idea. Also, get over myself? Well, ok, but then I have to put someone on some sort of 'game pedestal,' don't I? Any suggestions as to whom should occupy that spot, since, apparently, I'm not supposed to worry about myself, even in a game?

I'm simply pointing out that with the injectors these days, a character could be a day old, and running around in quite powerful ships, and may even have the skills to do more than undock in it. It's pretty much tossed out this measurement, age, as practically worthless as a diagnostic tool, hasn't it?

I've seen a 1 day old flying around in an Enyo.

Age has never been particularly useful as a tool for figuring out what skills someone might have because it tells you nothing about where someone's focused their training or even how much time they've spent subbed.

I actually have about 6m more SP than a guy I know whose character is actually slightly older than mine because I trailed optimally for almost all of my time so far and he didn't.

You have to make your determinations about how much of a threat someone is based off of their ship, how they're flying it, and what you can see about it like the drones and guns they're using and how much damage they're dealing once you're actually in the fight.

Well, you've anticipated what I was going to ask, at least partially, then. I was going to ask how you make the determination, yeah. But, well, AFTER I'm getting murdered, that... Well, in my own admittedly biased opinion, this is not optimal...

I don't have the link, but in in game chat, someone posted up a killboard posting, that really makes me second-guess some of what you just said.

It was an Orca. With no mods fitted, at all. Zero. Somebody trained up all that time, bought that ship, flew it out to support his mining pals, and promptly was popped...

If I just saw the Orca, I'd think, this is an investment. This guy MUST know what he's doing... But, apparently not.
