Nanite Operation - how exactly does it work?

As the title says: I wonder how this skill actually works. As I read it it's 5% less nanite repair paste per cycle (per skill level). So A ancillary armor repairer that consums 4 nanite repair pase per cycle would only consume 3 if you have nanite operations at lvl 5. Is that correct?

If not: please explain me how it really works.

In case my assumption was right: How does it work on numbers that are not easy dividable. E.g. small ancillary armor repairer consumes only one nanite repair paste. What happens with let's say nanite operations 2 (10%)? Nothing? Every 10th cycle you don't consume anything? I just don't get it.

Pretty sure it applies to repairing heat damaged modules, not ancillary reps.

That skill is from the days before Ancillary Reps. Back then the only thing paste did was repair heat damage so i guess they wrote the description with that in mind . A bit more confusing now that we have the reps.

But yes, the skill reduces how much paste you use to repair modules. There is another skill that increases he rate of repair, this also only affects the heat damage repair and not armor repairs (the Armor Rep skill does that).

Thanks guys. I completely forgot about the repairing part when reading it.
