Hi guys,

im not new but seems like a better place to ask here.

i dont get to use my desktop much, and so internet spaceships is not getting the attention it needs Sad

i am thinking about getting a cheap laptop that can run eve on lowest settings but still be able to undock/pvp etc...

What would you guys recommend, would an AMD A series cpu be ok? as i hear they have redeon intergrated graphics, yet there quite cheap.

if not what would you recommend as the cheapest option that is viable?

Thanks in advance

The AMD A series gives you a multi-core processor and Radeon graphics which easily meets the requirements for Eve at a rock bottom price. If you don't need the portability, consider an all-in-one for a much nicer display! https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=1VK-0001-0MYB8

If you're not bothered about it looking good, any potato from the last 5 years is good enough.

https://support.eveonline.com/hc/en-us/articles/202748741-System-Requirements lists the absolute bare minimum requirements.

Is it possible to play in dx9 then still? even though its nor supported anymore?

does the fact that its not supported mean that any issues wont be sorted?

DX9 is still supported AFAIK, it's not the default option but there is a launcher option to run your client in DX9.

Positive. Zero problem on a potato.

Though I'd consider external heating. Older non-gaming laptops that are powerful enough to run shiney games are really not designed to do so for extended periods. If I could manage, I'd rather buy budget desktop pcs for the places I'm most likely at.

Running potato here, with 8..wait 9 year old components. DX9 as well but i've been to a masstest down at the testserver that tested DX11 only features... man I feel so left out! heh

Anyway, the most important thing to look out for on older hardware is the GPU Shader Model 3 and CPU supports SSE2. One of my older laptops doesnt have the SM3 and shucks would've been nice to online another miner to my fleet on that..

My laptop with HD4000 graphics runs it OK on low settings - no fleet fights or going near citadels for you though.

in between my laptop blowing up and my custom GruntMaster 9000 gaming rig arriving, I could dualbox on a decade old cor-dup workstation I salvaged form the office.

graphics were on the potato side, but meh.....
