What should be the skill order be for gas harvester.

If you haven't played with it yet, there is an application called EVEMON that can help you plan skills.

To actually use the gas harvesting unit you need to train Mining to at least 4, and then pick up the skill book for Gas Cloud Harvesting and train it to at least 1. That book is about 24 million isk, so check your wallet first.

If you right-click then "show info" and then go to the requirements tab you can see what skills are required to use anything. As well as see if you have those skills trained or not. You can do the same for the skills themselves to see what their prerequisites are.

I know that you had your original question answered already but this can help you find answers yourself in the future.

TLDR: Train the skill to either II or V, anything else and you have done it wrong.

Be aware of the benefits of the Gas Harvesting skill - it allows you to fit one Gas Harvester per level, rather than the more expected yield increase.

So you need to train it to level II in order to fit two of them to your Venture/Prospect. They are the only ships with bonus' to gas huffing but can only fit a maximum of two gas cloud harvesters.

Train the skill to Level V only if you want to fit T2 Gas Cloud Harvesters which are a significant improvement over T1s.

Training the skill to Level III or IV and then stopping has no benefit whatsoever over Level II.

Also the skillbook is 24M, but only sold in a small number of NPC locations, so you may only see it on the market for 27-28M. You can save a few million by tracking down the right place to buy it.
