Cross-training?

Right now I run L4s in a Domi for cash and prizes, and fly around in low-sec/Syndicate playing wannabe PvPer in an Enyo, Thorax, or Nemesis. Most of that is wasted time, not gonna lie, either running from obvious traps or plain looking like a trap myself, but occasionally I get a bite. I hope to eventually graduate to fleet ops by joining a decent corp, but in the meantime I need to beef up my skills.

Was wondering if I could get some opinions about where to cross-train my "main". I know Minmatar are the current PvP FOTM but I find the Curse/Pilgrim to be more enticing. It also seems like the Amarr recons have good drone bonuses and mad low slots which would favor my current set of skills. Since I'm on my way to an Arazu/Lachesis anyway, this looks like a good match.

Any thoughts? Or have I already talked myself into it? Lol

The curse is a good small fleet ship, however loses value as fleet size increases. The pilgrim is the solo hunter ship of choice, but target selecting remains important(popped one who aggressed my cyclone rather easily). It could be used as a scout to pin down ships for the rest of the fleet to jump in and gank. Both could be fitted to utilize the TD bonus for disruption of bs fleets, but your main ewar(neuting) remains slightly gimped.

Thanks for the info, that helps.

The curse is usually shield tanked FYI

Honestly the pilgrim is a little gimped, it requires you to be close but you are VERY slow and often targets will warp away before you get to them

The curse, However is my personal favourite ship. Its amazing solo(if you can get people to fight) and works great in small gangs, it does lose some of its effectiveness in large fleets however because a few battleships just take that role

I would suggest that you consider "Fleet ops" you want to engage in, Before doing the Cruiser Train

PS; Training Amarr Cruiser 5 also unlocks some other great ships aswel, e.g. Zealot (AHAC of choice)

Guardian, which allows to do big fleets if in the long run you end up in a alliance which does Large Fights often

TLDR; I Vote Yes.

Well, I'm only a week or so away from a T2 shield tank, so it could be worse.

Nice. Thanks for the extra info, I think I'll go Amarr for secondary instead of Minnie.

It might be a good idea to consider Minnie again. It is indeed the fotm for the last three expansions, and opens up both Angel and Serpentis lines, since you already have Gallante trained. Cynabal and Dramiel are all popular pvp choices. Vigilante is also good, and deserves more attention than it gets. It's what Diemos should have been.

Cross training Amar line doesn't open up any additional options other than the Amar line itself, since there's no Gallante-Amar pirate faction. Arbitrator hulls are the only ones that really stand out among Amar ships, the rest of which are all decent, but aren't fotm in the way Minnie line is.

Um, wouldn't you uncloak right on top of them? They shouldn't even know you're coming.

I did notice that, but in general I don't find Minnie ships compelling so they've been pushed back. Don't get me wrong, flying a 'Cane seems to be pretty mandatory these days and it's in my plan, but getting into a Pilgrim looks to be lighter on the skills (drones and recon, both of which I want to get to/perfect for Gallente anyway) and, importantly, more fun. So the Minmatar stuff will wait.
