So you're telling me instead of being able to retire in my 60s and relax and enjoy a few years without work, I'm going to live forever? I'm going to enjoy this fresh hell that is my god damned job for eternity?

Why would you do this?

In EVE I'm a profitable small business owner!

In real life I'm also a small business owner!

The similarities are depressingly mostly accurate!

No doubt; the rate of change is accelerating and couple that with the pathetically short lifespan of the human species means I'm going to miss the coolest stuff yet to come. We really need a minimum thousand year lifespan to allow for hormonal surges to settle and rational thought to break free from the rigid constraints of a hovering Mr. Death. Surely, if we can live past the five hundred year mark we'll figure out a way to explore from the farthest galaxies to the smallest bits of an atom, pretty well rendering games of any kind obsolete.

Forum Rep for a bunch of characters, couple corps and one seriously Lost In Space multiboxer.

If the planet Earth was the size of a basketball, the deepest ocean wouldn't even feel wet. The paper thin layer we erroneously refer to as 'the world' is a consequence of the magnetic field that shields us from the King Sun's toxic rays and allows organised lifeforms to exist.
'The World' is a ball of rock, molten at its core. All life and the environment that supports it could be removed and it'd just be a complexion change.
Pls no hate on humanity because pollution, smoke means progress, this our egg not our home.

Everyone thinks living forever sounds cool. Till they realize itll be exactly like life today... only a lot longer.RollTwisted

And yes so far predictions on timelines have been off by hundreds and thousands of years for some things. But if we put all the money we spend each year on killing each other into science, medicine and education alone maybe it might all happen sooner. But then would that actually be a good thing? A "Hitler" would finally have his "1000 year reich", overpopulation would become insane, and working for a million years at that dead end job is suuuure gonna be a blast!!

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

Would it even be murder?

No, it would be something about damaging his personal property.

Clones are expensive.... or at least they were at some point.

What have you been smoking OP? TwistedTwistedTwisted

Our future is pretty clear. Watch the Wall-e cartoon. Exclude the escape to space. You will get a world full of garbage with ill people walking through the piles of it and looking for means of prolonging their miserable existence.

That is an unpleasant scenario, but the most likely one.

Unless some 'merciful' tyrant decides to push 'the button' to 'cleanse the world'.

Or our poor planet decides to get rid of the human infestation that in its foolishness cuts off the branch it sits on. You know, climate change, shifting planet's magnetic poles, etc.

In our delusions of 'grandeur', we often forget how fragile we are and how fragile is the existing civilization. A simple planetary magnetic storm will throw us back into the middle ages. If not worse (human egos with machine guns can do a lot of harm).

And no, Eve is nothing like real life. The only two things they have in common are the a**holes and the endless grind (unless, as in Eve, you have a way to buy 'isk' with 'PLEX').

And no, I am not in a bad mood today. Just have been thinking about these things a lot.

One step at a time ...

How can you say the 80's were wrong? Unless you can proof you have been to 2019. I call you a liar
