9,000,000 seems a bit high for a skillbook that only gives 2% per level....

Seriously?

I've mined way more than that with them in less than an hour.

And I dont think the T2 drones currently benefit from the skill, as its not a req.

That's 4 hours of mining Veldspar in Highsec using one char in a Retriever, or one hour of four chars mining Veldspar in a Retriever.

Doing anything related to mining in a more optimal condition (mining anything but Veldspar, using a better ship, having boosts, etc) will make it even faster.

Considering it's a skill that will benefit you for the entirety of your EVE career while drawing income for you, 9 mil is pretty cheap.

IDK where you're getting your drone mining numbers....however, yes. Its learned, its there and all my mining drones are happy and working hard.

Well, maybe not very happy....but how can you tell? They mine, they do their job, they do good work and I get ore. Are they sentient? Are my mining drones sad, happy, angry, mad, about to strike?

That skill will assist if you use 'Excavator Mining drones' in a Rorqual, but for hisec they have an impact only on 'Augmented Mining Drones' which can be used in any ship but have a pretty hefty price tag. The skill does not benefit the T2 drones at all. So unless you use the Augmented drones in hisec or plan to jump into a Rorqual, don't bother.

EDIT: I should point out however that I did train that skill and the ice mining drone specialisation skill on two characters because I expect it will affect T2 mining drones and I can tell you there is a benefit in it when it does.

But yeah, "T2 skills" work like that. They get expensive.

If you don't think you are getting reasonable return on investment you don't need to buy the skill. CCP have said the skill will eventually be prerequisite for T2 drones, and I don't think they intend to grandfather people who are currently flying the drones without the skill.

Right. I bought all the Carrier books at 500 Mil each. My industrial alt has built the Rorqual skills. That was easily over a billion in skillbook costs alone. Let a few more months pass before you start complaining about skillbook expenses.

From what the devs said about the mining drone specialization skill, it only works on new T2 mining drones for now but after some time to allow everyone to train the skill they will make it so that all T2 mining drones require it.
I'm paraphrasing of course.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

Just te be sure... the advanced miningdrone skillbook is for excavator drones only right? And those only fit on a Rorqual if i'm correct?

The skill is named "Mining drone specialization" and for now only affect faction mining drones, aka completely nuts overpriced drones, not the tech2 for now. Affects both small and rorqual sized drones, but as said only the faction variants.

If anyone wan to check : show info of "mining drone specialization" skillbook, and then the "required for" tab.

CCP said it would be applied to T2 once we had time to train it.
