As a solo multiboxer with a couple small corps I would like to see a smallish structure, not as large and expensive as an engineering complex but bigger with more features than a Mobile Depot. A place to dock my ships, refine my ore with maybe a repair shop and a market. Fuel requirements would be minimal and auto-weapons for defense when the structure is unmanned, or maybe even a special structure cloak to keep the place hidden while the owner is away or offline. Think chasing the high dollar ores in null-sec, haul it in with a big blockade running freighter, unload then anchor in a safe spot, do what you need to do then when ready, shut it all down, load it back on the freighter and go elsewhere. I'd like that.

So you want a citadel that shoots back automatically and is invisible when you're not around.

I'm going to build a big wall that will keep the Gallente out, and they're going to pay for it!

Except for the cloak, you've described a POS.

They are still usable.

A small POS provides exactly what you're asking for - except the market and why would a solo operation need one. You can have a POS for the next little while but they'll likely be gone by the end of the year. If real life prevents you from logging in for a while, a small POS can be taken down and stored in a station in about half an hour.

Much as I would like to see small POS functionality replicated in the new structures, I don't expect it to happen. I believe CCP wants small operations to use the services in public Citadels/Engineering Complexes rather than build their own. The new structures can't hide but your stuff is protected by the asset safety system and will be moved to a nearby NPC station if the citadel/EC blows up.

Ah I think I got you, you are not capable of funding an engineering astrahouse with your level 2 mission income and you want something cheaper.

not even close mate



by the end of the year if we are lucky we will have the drilling platform at most. We are still a long way from getting rid of POS. we still need major structures like the research lab and minor ones like gates(replacing jump bridges)

Isn't there already a deployable ore compressor? You could always carry one around in addition to depot. But I dont mind the idea.
Options are nice to have.

The POS things are on the way out (so they say), the complexes cost too much and really don't work for me and what's wrong with wanting something that fits my game play anyways? It's the Players Features And Ideas Discussion Forum and this is my idea. CCP can nerf the thing so maybe the cloak has a timer, the guns quit shooting if somebody forgets to feed the fuel hopper and the skill sets take a while and cost like the dickens. But this is what I'd like to see happen, and I doubt very much that it will, but hey, if you don't ask then they can't know what you want.

a small rapid deployed and un-anchored structure should be added along the lines of a FOB. only M and L sizes L needed for capitals NO asset safety same amount of guns as an EC always vulnerable cost 350m for M ~800m for large


these could be used to replace small POS

I hear you.

For my CSM campaign last year here is one sugggestion I had.

"Encourage new ideas that would facilitate a nomadic life style.

With the introduction of citadels in the game, I’d like to promote having all current POS become Orca-style ships once they run out of fuel or are unanchored. All the POS’s online deployable would be automatically stored in their cargo bay. Such “towering” ship would have the capacity to travel in New Eden like an Orca does. The fuel bay of this ship/POS could only be filled inside a Station or a Citadel, and they could head back to be anchored near a moon and be onlined again. As such, they would become a truly nomadic asset with a built-in limited deployment time before they have to travel back again for refueling. It would allow existing POSes to smoothly transition to a role that is different from Citadels, without becoming extinct, provided the problematic shield can be replaced by the new tethering mechanic."

If elected, I would support discussions for a solo/micro-corp structure between mobile depot and Astrahus.

The problem with introducing cheap mobile and powerful structures into the game is their non intended use as mobile staging structures for large fleets. The game is already upside down with asset safety. WW-bee already proved the smart play is to not engage and pick your stuff up later.

Having these new nomadic..... err mobile staging structures would just turn SOV null into an epic game of whack-a-mole for large player groups. Use nomadic structures to roll into a region and clear it out (no one fights back, because... why would you???). You put up your citadels and the next large fleet rolls through and clears you out. Rinse and repeat. Until folks just get tired of it and settle in to run incursions until eve finally collapses.

I just think it would be a bad move (big picture) for the game to provide an easy mode for invasion fleets right after you put space magic asset safety into the game. I see the norm as logging in to a bunch of hostile... I mean nomadic structures in your space and just logging out until your stuff shows up in a LS station. NOT the recipe for epic space combat.




If elected you would support possibly altering the SOV null in a large way, because you don't see the big picture. You have to look at all the possible uses for things, not just accept ideas as they are laid out for you (hint: Eve is full of devious folk). An example of this poor line of thinking is when the mass/range idea in WH space was lobbied for. The flyer said "Capital kills for everyone" and reality said "No one will use caps on WH anymore".

you cant put down anymore pos or outpost, all existing ones are waiting to be either phased out or blown up as far as pos's go, not sure how they are going to do outpost.

Not true. No, you can't anchor any more outposts, but you can still anchor POSes. All POS functionality is still online, and they are still the only structures to do moon mining, jump bridges, and cyno beacons. Until all of that functionality has been reliably replicated by a new structure (a year+ from now) POS will still be viable and anchorable.
